Boon and the MK Team have said that the graphics differences will be fairly miniscule..
The feature list will be identical.. So.. It's pretty much up to you.
If you plan to play online, that could be the deciding vote. XBox Live has a much better online service but Microsoft charges players monthly to play games over it.. (Given that you don't use things like XP Connect)
PS2, while the online service isn't all that special, is free. No fees.
EDIT: Considering that you have a PS2.. If I were in your position, I wouldn't buy a new console specifically for MK. That's my two cents.

Xbox, wanna know why?
Better gfx
Faster load times (much faster)
better online service
better controls(at least IMO)
So what if ps2's online service is free? You still have to buy the modem and cables and such, so it's not free when you add it all up.

The Network Adapter for ps2 is 40 dollars. An ethernet cable can be bought for 5 to 10 dollars. So the most probable highest price for buying the requirements to play PS2 online is about 50 dollars. That's 50 dollars, then everything is free for as long as one has the PS2. That same overall price is what Xbox users have to pay in total each year.

Keepoppin your wrong you can also pay for xbox live yearly.
Anyways i would say xbox for online play and the games gfx.

Thanks a lot for pointing that out. You can also pay annually for a fairly good price. Doesn't mean that I'm wrong though..
I don't have an XBox, sorry.

If you have to buy an X-box to play Deception on it...I'd get it for PS2. Thats quite a bit of money for just one game.

He poses an excellent point.. Perhaps you should look into the rest of the XBox library before purchasing the console?

when u buy the starter kit u get a year free. and with just about every xbox live game u get they give u cards for free time. soooo xbox doesnt really cost much compared to ps2. its worth the extra money for the better service. at least thats my opinion

It all depends on the situation:
-Both game systems
If you were gonna go online and play then I would say ps2 because its free besides gettin parts.
If you were gonna stay offline and play then Xbox live
-one game system
stick with the one you got because it isnt worth 1 game.
in your place i would definitely get ps2 (I am lol) so theres my hmm 1.809802394802398324 cents!

I have DA for the XBox and never played any versions except for that one. I never really got used to the XBox controller for fighting games so this time I pre-ordered the PS2 version. It's all started to drive me rather insane, so much so that I almost pre-ordered the XBox version last night.. with a feeling like I'll be missing out on something without the XBox version. Stupid obsessive-compulsive behaviors. (touches his nose exactly 15 times, spins his dr. pepper can around 5 times before puting it down and stops typing after counting to 30).

hmm.. the controls are better for fighting games like mkd for ps2.. but thats my opinion and i'v gotten way to firmiler with the ps2 controller... probley your the same.. then theres the online.. sony.. they let the publisher do there online for them.. but microsoft dosn't thats why they charge..
the load time.. eh.. not really a real significance... if you where fine with mk:da then you shouldn't have np... and then theres the fact about graphics... well... yeah xbox is better... but.. you can easily get new high def cables for the same price for a controller for xbox...
then theres the game collection for online for ps2.. comming next is after mk:d theres going to be kof 94/re, kof 97-00 bundle and even last blade 1 and 2 in one bundle.. both online... and then theres also tons and tons of racing like burnout 3.. that game is awsome.. and is more supirior to the box in the graphics department.. even though all the songs sux lol...
so all and all.. since you have the console already... save your money and get online for the ps2... trust me.. the ps3 is going to be out next year.. i start saving..

people are talking about how its the same price for the network adapter and an ethernet cable as it is for a year of xbox live. um, didnt he say he doesnt have an xbox? even with a free year it'll still be $150 for the system. so basically the ps2 version will be cheaper regardless. plus theyre right, with the new systems on the horizon, it doesnt make much sense to buy a new one now.

I'll rather pay for xbox live than having to deal with gameshark/action replay cheaters on the sad joke that is the online ps2 network.
