Ok, I have a theory regarding Shujinko.
Here goes..

Ok, at the end of the Deception intro Shujinko states that it's his fault the Dragon King has been unleashed. A lot of people have been wondering what this means.
Also, some people have been very unhappy that Shujinko, despite this being his first MK, is the new 'Hero'. People ask, where has he been in all of the other MK's if he is so important? Well, I have a theory that answers ALL these questions in one fowl swoop. Why he is the new hero, why he hasn't been around before, and why he says the DK is his fault.
Shujinko is....
BLAZE. Before you say 'what the fuck', let me explain, it makes perfect sense.
Blaze, through all of the MK's we have seen(the games, not all of the others before MK1), has been imprisoned as protector of the egg, and this would explain 'Blaze'(Shujinko)'s abscence. It also explains the Dragon King being his fault perfectly. According to the story, Blaze was on an important quest when he was captured by priests loyal to the Dragon King, and made to protect the egg. According to his story, Shujinko is on a quest from the Elder Gods. It's obvious.
His quest was to destroy the Egg holding the Dragon king, to eliminate the threat once and for all, before he could ever even be re-born. However, he failed in his mission, because he allowed himself to be captured by these devotees of the DK, and forced into doing the opposite of his mission, he was forced to protect the Dragon King.
And this perfectly explains why he is now 'the chosen one' so to speak. Because, it has been his destiny for thousands of years that he destroy the Dragon King, by orders sent down from the Elder Gods.
No other theory I can think of explains all the mysteries surrounding Shujinko more than this.
Well, what do you guys think?
If you guys think its dumb, go easy on me. ^_^ lol

How does it not match?
Please point out the holes in my theory. I mean if you can prove it impossible, thats fine. I just think its a good explanation of those questions surrounding Shujinko.

Well, we know that Shujinko grows up learning different styles and traveling across all of the realms of the MK universe, because this is the premise of the Konquest mode.
We also know that Blaze is the protector of the Dragon King's egg. That means Blaze has been with that egg for thousands of years.
Since Shujinko is a mortal man of 60 or so years, and we get to experience most of his life while playing Konquest mode, we can safely assume that Shujinko is not Blaze.

What he said. Imagine how boring Konquest would be if you spent it guarding an egg.

Good point. I was just thinking about his age as well..
But does the story of Blaze specifically state the NUMBER of years he has been a gaurdian of the egg? Also, if the spell cast upon him to make him protect the egg turned him INTO an elemental(makes sense they were imprisoning him in a volcanic cavern), then it would be safe to assume he wouldn't age anymore as a human, while trapped as an elemental. So, even if it is a number of years later he is freed, when he reverts to being human, he'd be the age he was at the time he was captured.

I don't know if they ever state specifically how long Blaze has guarded the egg, but they do mention that the Dragon King has been gone for thousands of years. So I imagine Blaze would've guarded the egg for that amount of time.
I think the reasoning behind Shujinko's claim that he is the one responsible for the return of the Dragon King is more likely some event that you directly cause or by way of action allow to happen in Konquest mode. The butterfly effect, basically.

good theory but i doubt it because the priests woulda caught him right when the DK died...and they would be dead now becasue it said that they were DK loyal but in the trailer it said he was long forgotten...so once again a great theory but no avail...maybe shujinko was supposed to stop someone (say reptile) from interfering with the egg or maybe he was supposed to stop quan from reviving the entire army (which triggers the DKs return) so there are tons of theories but only one will prevail! thank God we will actually know the true story this time...heck we will play it.

Good point. The Butterfly effect might make sense.
Also, Bezou, perhaps if my theory is true, the ending of Konquest is Shujinko getting imprisoned, then being freed and going back to normal at the end of DA as the Dragon King's egg hatches.

If you all remember, in MK2 on the pit, you can see Blaze fighting what looked like a green lui kang. This would seem to insinuate that Blaze hasn't been the guardian of the egg for very long. That being said...
Blaze is not Shujinko. I believe that what Shujinko ment in his intro was that he was tricked to returning the power to the dragon king. For instance, maybe Damashi, or another of Shujinko's "allies" actually works for the DK and says he works for the Elder Gods? "Shujinko, get me the magic olive branch of versitality!" He goes and gets it, and lo and behold the "ally" uses this item to raise the DK. I think that is a more plausible sotry, considering that Shujinko says he brought Onaga to power through deception. (No, i don't think it is actually a magic olive branch... it was just a stupid example

Don't worry, TheTinMan2005. When I meet Blaze in Konquest, I'll take a picture of Shujinko and him for the photo album.
I just think it's perfectly ok for a character to be a new character. And Shujinko looks like he'll have one of the best stories in MK history.

Another good question. Blaze had an important mission he was on, it seems odd that we have heard nothing about him so far.
You'd think the MK team would bring him back in, and follow that storyline. UNLESS, he is Shujinko.
