I was wondering mk has had test your might, and recently included test your sight, and now have added the chess and puzzle kombat to make online play and multiplayer fun.
I was thinking more of single player now...that there should be some just for the single player mode.
I was thinking that this could very well teach you how to play mkda, rather than some other mini game. I also had a side quest written for a single player konquest type mode which functioned with the system's internal clock long time ago, this is a continuation of different side quests.
Test your might and sight are good, but i think including side quests like test your walk, test your jump, test your skill, and test yourself.
See Below.
Test your Path
You are surrounded at the edge of a nearby cliff,(example) and you have to find your way across the cliff to the other side for your safety. Getting to the other side is not an easy task however, there will be obstacles in your way from preventing your safe escape. This obviously being in the 3d match format, you will only be able to move forward, backward, upward in 3d and downward in 3d to avoid obstacles like barrells and boulders from coming in contact with your character. If your character gets hit too much his health meter will decrease and will die, and also if your character cannot manage to go very far and keeps getting pushed back, he/she will get pushed off the cliff and will fall to his/her death down the cliff where maybe the pit lies?
P.s. I just thought that maybe in order to counter a character from not jumping would be to add spikes at the top if it was a cave and had an edge where you'd fall off, so you'd have to make it through the cave where boulders fell of, and objects that were thrown by guards.
I also forgot to mention that in the test your walk there's also modes where you'd have to navigate through a maze and a wave of hungry man eating morons would come chasing slowly hunting you down. Also, in other modes, there'd be spikes on the floor preventing you from walking or obstacles that rise out of the ground that would surprise you or objects that would surprise you and fall right on the ground making a huge sound.
Test Your Air
Your character would start off somewhat similar to test your path, except you have to utilize your jumping abilities. There'd be no spikes above preventing you from jumping, and if Mk:D supported a style of play where you'd be able to jump from platform to platform, would be nice, where you would have to jump from one platform to another going higher and higher, and if you fall, you'd die, and your objective would be to reach the very top, notice that jumping from platform would require the use of moving your character in 3d as well, the path of platforms will twist eventually as you get higher and higher, your health only decreases if you fall off a high enough platform and land on one that is far enough to give you damage. Wind could play a part in this as it could blow you a little bit off balance.
Test your Skills
Test your skill, is where you'd get to perform your special moves or not. If your character does not have a projectile move then they'd have to adapt using another move. But mostly, everyone has some sort of projectile.
Test your skill will actually get you to perform your characters' special attack/ fireball towards oncoming targets. You will be placed in a circular stadium like dome which hangs on balloons that surround the outer section of the stadium, these balloons of helium hold support and keep the heavy stadium afloat on air, where objects like daggers and knives come out a machine that lies near the center of the arena. The machine rotates after every dagger/knive it throws out, it only rotates an amount that is reachable by a character when you try to 3d walk.
So your character would not want to miss a dagger that is thrown, because it will pop out one of the balloons with every missed target, and if you just get in it's way instead of destroying it, you will take damage instead, but the damage will be heavy to counter people from abusing this method to prevent the arena from getting destroyed. So, basically you'd have to move in 3d around the arena trying to shoot down daggers/knives thrown towards you before it bursts out every balloon that is holding the arena in place and once a certain amount of daggers are destroyed, the machine will eventually stop spitting out sharp weapons.
Test Your Self
Test yourself is not what you think...it's a defensive manueviring side quest. Objects like barrels come charging towards you, some bouncing up and down all over the place, these objects are too heavy and big to jump over or to avoid, so you have to come in contact and too big to destroy, so you have to suck it in and block these heavy massacre as they keep banging you up.
This will make you practice high blocking and low blocking, it may sound easy, but as the barrells keep coming, they come faster and all over the place, making it harder to know which one will come first, some might come first but are slow, some might come later but are faster, some might be blocked high and coming first and at the same time one comes later but is fast and is to be blocked low. If you can't block enough, you will take damage and lead to injury and death.
More to come Later in Part 3.
Test Your Throw
Test Your Weapon
Test Your Combo
Test Your Counter
Test Your Character
Test Your Enemy(a hidden character)
Hope You'll Like it.
Note: These are just examples of the side quests, there are many other ideas i have for these side quests, so once you complete one for example, the next one would be unlocked, hence there'd be much more to unlock and much more for challenge. dp's please. really need em.

er I think I'll pass on that one, instead of speading so much time on mini-games and side quests can't they just improve the main game???

Yes, i say they should spend time on the main game itself, but if you feel like unlocking stuff, then maybe have these side quests as things to unlock.
Instead of having a krypt full of images and such, it'd be fun to unlock things like these.

Here is my original thread post i made for side quests for MK:Dcptn.
I think that side quests should be included if there is space for anything to be added. Kinda like konquest but you use whatever character you created or utilized through konquest or create a character. Your character goes on a journey and fights against opponents and bosses. Special appearances should be made by people that have been dead, like Goro or Motaro, or whoever they don't include for accessing. Side Quests should be like fighting but in adventure/action mode, where the battles are like boss battles. The feel that i'm trying to get from this is like the feeling you get when you're facing off against many final bosses in the mk series. Fighting those bosses again in SideQuests would be cool. These re-created characters would look so cool if they were upgraded. For eg. If you're fighting against Shao Kahn or Moloch or Shang Tsung, Shang Tsung does what he did in the movie, three trials, forgot the order: face your enemy, face yourself, face your greatest fear.
1: All these warriors come attacking you one at a time.
2:Mirror Match
3: The Final Battle
What do you think?
I think that they won't make it in MK:DCPTN,
but i would love to see it at least in a secret or bonus extra in the krypt.
