I was talking to Crow last night on the IRC, and he mentioned that we've almost racked up every ninja in the MK series in deceptoin. So unfornately, human doesn't seem likely. If he returns, it will probably be as a cyborg, just to maintain a balance. But really, the ninja's are so unique in this game, I don't really see them as ninja's anymore.

But yes, I would fucking love to see Smoke return. Any form will do at this point, but I think half of each would be the ideal form. But I think he deserves a return much more than Noob Saibot, especially with Subzero's storyline so crucial.

AMEN!! Finally someone who feels my pain. Smoke should come first over Ermac, Noob, and especially Nightwolf. Especially with his relation to Sub-Zero.

I personally hope not. Smoke could only make the storyline go downhill. He appears in MK3, yet doesn't appear for two tournaments, yet his best friend is? It really doesn't make sense.

The only way I'd even think Smoke could return is if they had him discover something about the Dragon King in MK2 from Blaze or something. It turns out the real reason he didn't want to get automated was because he would be built with loyalty towards the Lin Kuei and wouldn't be able to use the information he had discovered. He gets automated and loses his soul, until he finds Sub-Zero, which allows him to access his MK2 databanks, and remembers the classifyed information. He goes to the Special Forces and asks if they can return his soul and his physical appearance, if in exchange he fought for Earthrealm. But in doing so the Special Forces unleashed a rogue evil.

You then have Smoke's alternative costume(s) as half cybernetic, half human (his main costume would be cybernetic). But even then you have a few plotholes. I think Smoke was really a pretty average character, and there is no need for him to return. Noob Saibot has the bigger fanbase, IMO. And he was probably intended for Deadly Alliance. Same with Sareena and Sektor. I think Smoke is finished as far as storylines go, and as for Rain, I think they could do something more unique for Rain, like having him join Shao Kahn again, or on a mission to kill his mother. Maybe he even joins a cult trying to revive Shinnok? I can only really see Rain as a semi-neutral bad guy. I'd save him for MK7, though.

I respect your opinion, and I what you said is really well explained. But still, I must disagree.

Many have been drawing attention to Smoke's over-extended absence, but I think there's a greater reason than what we all have hypthosized(sp?). I can't understand why people don't see purpose for Smoke. Subzero is in the darkest predicament of his life. He has the Red Dragon on his left, Sektor's faction on his right, and all of this is right under the threat of the Dragon King. Was there ever a time where Subzero needed more help?

And to make more sense of this, just ponder over what happened to Smoke. He was raped of his flesh and blood, and for a time, his soul as well. He has endured physical and emotional scars greater than most every other character in MK. With that in mind, what has Smoke been doing for the last two tournaments? The answer is obvious:

Healing.

The way I see it, he's probably just spending time in solitude trying to find meaning to his existance. He's spending years trying to feel human again. One he has purged himself of the emotional trauma and allowed the pain of memory to leave him, he'll take his place once again. I figure that after a long period of time spent on becoming content with his loss of humanity, he'll fill in the void within him by aiding those in need. If Smoke lend's a hand to Subzero, I doubt he's going to respond with "I'm fine, thank you."

If Smoke is in the game, he'll have a vital position to fill. That's my opinion.

Well things are looking up for you Smoke fans. There is a sketch of the Neatherbelly in the PSM article that shows him in his old ninja outfit (MKT style). Which could mean 2 things, he is a playable fighter or it is just a test sketch using the adevnture mode concept.

But we all know he will be in the game none-the-less. After all, the article did say that EVERY SINGLE FIGHTER in MK history will be in adventure mode. So you'll see him no matter what.

Honestly I could care less at this point. Sindel is back and thats all I wanted.

PS: DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT ASKING FOR SCANS. SORRY. NO SCANS, IT'S THE RULE. NOT EVEN IN PM. K, thanks.

I would love to see robot smoke come to MKD definitly.I think there is a chance he will be in it.If he is he will be a hidden character, and u have to unlock him.It would be cool if they made his costume like the one in mortal kobmat annihilation.I think they did a cheesy job with cyrax in MKDA.Just think, smoke hasnt been in a game for so long.So you would expect he will be back soon for MK6 or MK7.
