*sigh* another old, bumped thread... seeing as it's all the way up here, I thought i'd throw in my 2 cents, before it fades into the back of the board with all of the other miscellaneous junk

most people seem to be saying: Smoke would never betray Sub-Zero, and vice-versa so the idea of him betraying Sub actually WOULD be good, if only because it is shocking

I don't think it's a good idea though... Smoke was already turned bad when he was automated, and went after SZ then... if he turned against him again, it's not shocking at all(at least not to me) and there would have to be some motive for Smoke to go bad

Smoke was originally a secret character, with no ties to anyone in MK at all (well, besides being another ninja palette swap and copying all of scorpion's moves)... his ties to the Lin Kuei were just thrown out so he could become a main, cannon character... Smoke should come out of Sub's shadow, and develop his own storyline

but if Sub and Smoke must be forever linked, I like this story idea better:
Sub-Zero has obtained great power through posession of the Dragon Medallion... however, the saying 'Power corrupts' applies here. In addition to aging at an increased rate, Sub-zero has also become mentally instable, the intoxicating power of the Medallion has seduced him, warping his psyche towards evil... Sub-zero's old ally Smoke realizes this and attempts to help him as Sub-Zero had helped him so long ago. But can Smoke defeat an immensely more powerful adversary? More importantly, can he save Sub-Zero from himself?

The most important battles are fought from within...
