So do you actually fight in the MK tournament after talking with Shen?

When you talk with him he says come back when you are ready. And that Shaolin monk said I need to talk to Shen and Wen before I start my training. Is this important at all? Do I fight in the MK tournament?

You don't get to fight in the tournament. But its still worth talking to them to get the White Lotus Headband.
How much experience do I need? Like how many people do I train with to get them to give me the headband?
