Monthly? I assume you mean monthly payments.. In that case, no.. PS2 Online is generally free.
Announced so far, one-on-one fighting.. Jump in a chat room and fight someone. I, for one, hope a spectator mode is in place.

You don't have to pay for PS2 online.. Only XBox live.

2.I am not sure but it might be possible. In the newest commentary video Boon has said the PS2 version will have rooms. If oragized as in you lost now you challange me and so on and so on.

i have one also please. I've never played PS 2 online coz i don't have the things required too. But should i be interested, what do i need to get to be able to play online ? i'm from the Asian Region btw, and .. do i need to hook up to a ISP or something ? or do i just get the necessary stuff and be able to straght away go online or what ?

You need to use your PS2's adapter's disc setup you config it to use your ISP to log on. Also input information about your password you use for your ISP and stuff like that on the PS2 network start up disc. At least for me.
