Gee. Way to answer his question...
Little known fact: Waiting for the answer before you weigh-in does not make you less stupid.

Which is why waiting for the next game would be waiting for the answer...
Or if it makes you more comfortable, the solution.
I'd elaborate, but I wouldn't want to risk having an opinion!

It will be another direction, but to me is dead in Deception. The last great chapter of a Mortal Kombat.

I wait for noone Mick. I did not read most of the responses. Funny dilemma, isn't it? What the hell happened to you mick? You are acting extremely strange lately. Who put the hot pepper up your ass? How come you don't visit the chat site anymore? You were one of the best mods.
/me slaps forehead. I actually expected a real truthful response.

I think it'd take a lot to kill the mk franchise. Much more than this.

... 'Is MKvsDC going to kill the franchise once and for all?'
Conventional wisdom says waiting for the next game?... Bit of a cop-out!

MK fans shitting their nappy aside, the smart vote has to be anything but the death of a franchise. We already know there were other plans for the next MK that have been deferred, and for the time being, all we're looking forward to is heavy handed retro design and the potential to reach a wider audience.
Of course this isn't the death of the franchise!
I could very easily throw myself on the ground and writhe about, screaming and crying over creative direction, but if MK's proved nothing over a decade-and-a-half, it's that it's got an in-built support system in a very vocal, but fiercly loyal, fanbase.
Frankly I'd expect outsiders to think a game like this could only do good things for MK, a franchise long forgotten by many in the main stream.
And apparently prolonged exposure to MK fans brings out the worst in me.

Just saying I'd assume that the remaining members of the MKTeam own the majority of MK themselves. And if they don't make enough money, stockholders cash in all the time. Could make good business sense to quit.
FALSE, The MK Team owns NOTHING, which why John Tobias left because he felt that creators should retain some form of ownership of their creations.
and to answer the OP, No this won't kill MK, the laughable garbage that was Mortal Kombat 4 didn't and this can't be as bad as that.

Someones costume over improved gameplay?
Khameleon over storyline? pffttt
A bio over online play or overall character selection?
I'm sorry but, at least the casual gamers curiosity and ignorance even at times prevails over some fans that are never pleased with what they get that "follow" the MK series..... "

Well, i'm not just speaking on mk generally, but more gaming as a whole.
I do agree that there are some that are not now, nor will they ever be satisfied with mk, as a whole, ever again. Is that their right? Absolutely. I consider myself a fan of mortal kombat, but I don't consider myself blind to the problems mk faces these days. I'm one who doesn't think a crossover game is going to solve anything other than midway's financial troubles. Maybe I'll be wrong and this game will be the greatest playing mk of all time, which will lay the groundwork for mk9. Maybe the story will return to it's former glory. With all my heart I hope this game proves me wrong, and dispite my displeasure, I'm going to at least play the game at some point, and when I do, I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.
Ugh.....sorry i know that's what the rant thread is for.

It's all good dude, I see what you're saying I do feel that a lot of those "casual MK fans" are often blind to certain things such as what I mentioned above. Some will worry about a bio, storyline, costume over gameplay which honestly shouldn't be their #1 priority. Now of course someone can say to me "well who am I to say what a fans wishes should be"
Ok, and although that's a fair point I just want to say that's NOT what I'm saying or telling other fans what to do but just to make people understand that someones, story, bio or costume doesn't make the "game good" gameplay makes the game good first hand, then everything else
If the game plays shitty to begin with, then what's the point of caring about anything else? Might as well read the MK comics in that case, know what I mean?
It's like I said in the first week of my own ranting. I think more fans need to give the game a chance, not judge it "before" playing it or coming out. You sound like you'll give it a shot at least which is good, more fans need to practice that policy instead of judging a book by it's cover.....like some fans have already with MK8.
@ MINION, yeah dude that's exactly what I'm saying. Glad you see my point bud
No it wont kill the franchise. It will probably make it stronger.
More people will be able to purchase the game with a teen rating.
DC fans cant wait to beat up MK characters, and MK fans cant wait to beat up Superman.
Look at how much attention this game is getting from the fans and media.
Im unhappy that the game will be a crossover, but Im so curious of this new direction that I will buy it.

I still think this game has a long way to go with a good fighting engine....And a crossover idea won't kill a whole series in one shot...Say for instance Snake! being in Brawwl, it was one of the most unexpected things but he turned out to be one of the best characters IMO. So as long as it presents well, has good graphics, and has a good fighting engine... I believe MK will survive for a long time if they play their cards right...
P.S, I loved Armageddon even with it's shitty fatalitis, and I loved Shaolin Monks even with it's innaccurate story line and horrible VA...

Mmm... That might be over estimating the inbuilt support of DC fans more than a little. Most comics channels I've come across are expressing disinterest, if even that.
Appreciate the point, though.
