So.....some of the Projectiles in Deception look pretty Lame so far ( disapointing )

the movie clips ive watched so far of deception fail to "wow" or "amaze" me in the whole projectiles part of the game.

Sub has his ball of ice again, baraka's blade spark is weak (small and SLOW) and sindel has like a pink projectile? wtf?

I know its early, and in beta but i have to say that i was hoping for better projectiles, especially after DA.

um.. what others are there.. projectiles are always some fire ball... or spark.... i don't understand what u want so... i like the projectiles so far the best is ermacs.. imo..

I think they're alright. Some are better than others, like Nightwolf's Arrow shot I like. And for Some reason I like Ermac's too. Personally I can't wait to see how they're gonna handle Mileena's Energy Sai throw.

well, subs freeze is a concentrated little blue light ball. And barakas "sparker" is also small and slow. I bet if raiden was in the game, he would have a little ball of electricity...see the pattern? they are small, and not very exciting.

I would prefer sub zero's ice particles, raiden actually shotting lightning bolts, etc....catch my drift?

I think they look OK but they could be a lot better.
I hope they change Sindels fireball to a white cloud, like in MK3.

I think Ermac could of had a cooler looking animation for the fireball toss.
The leaning back looks a bit blah to me.

I like Nightwolf's arrow.
Sub's Ice look cool too.

I agree. Even though projectile attacks can just be considered fireballs, i still think they should spend time on them, regardless. Everything in MK should always look decent and good.

I wasnt to thrilled when i saw Barakas spark either. It shouldve looked a bit bigger and more fiery, leaving a blue flame impact when it hits the opponent.

IMO, Sindels was very lame looking. It looked so narrow, small, and not even colourful, they just used one colour for it, and thats pink. In MK3, her fire ball there was awesome. It was bigger, darker, longer, and had way more cool gothic looking colours. It was mixed with a dark purple, touches of black, and dark blue, which was awesome. I hope they make it look better in MKD, cause so far i think it looks pretty bad.

Once again, despite how much i love Subzero, i dont think his Ice Ball looks right. It looks more like a light blue flame ball rather than ice IMO. I think it should look a tad darker, and have a more icy look with blue-ish mist surrounding it.

I hope they make every projectile look great and interesting, being totally different than everyone elses. It should look more colourful and gloomy. IMO character projectiles should be just as important as the characters weapons and fighting styles. Afterall, its the characters signature moves and there special powers that only belongs to them.

With the older 2-d kombats, projectiles came off as simple yet very affective and believeable.

Jumping to DA, i thought most of the projectiles could have used a little more ummph! however there were a few innovative ones like Shang Tsung's 3-d fireballs. The execution, sound effects, and color use of Shang Tsungs fireballs were excellent!

However, Reptiles green ball of acid spit, nitara's blood spit, raidens pethetic bolt ray, sub's ball of ice energy, and li meis sparkiler were just plain wack! I did however like the particle effects that the projecticles made upon impact...that was impressive!

I just feel that the projectiles could use a little bit more work, and i havent complained about anything yet.

I too have to admit that Sindel's scream ball was a little weak... it didn't even look like she opened her mouth... she didn't even do a little "Ruaah!!" scream thingy..u know. It's still early some of the projectiles may change.
Ermac's and Nightwolf's look amazing...
Looking foward to seeing Mileena's sai throw! :)

i am a little dissapointed about sindels prjectile, i was like whaa thats her mouth thingy? lol
also i hope they put a decent scream effect to her scream move, as both times when i have seen it, it looked a litle pathetic.

I agree.. but isn't it hard to do like a 3D iceball or something? But yeah the 2D effects did look better and believable.. wish they could implement those..

I 100% absolutely agree with you bro. I hope they make the projectiles look alot better, because right now they look pretty boring.

I'll agree some of the projectiles look very dull. I believe this is work in progress though. I'm loving Nightwolf's arrow and Ermacs projectile. The projectiles especially Reptiles Acid spit were very dull in MK:DA.

yes they did.... I think they need to really pay attention to how the projectiles appear... (to me, they all look the same).. they can have so much fun making each projectile bad A$$ lookin. In time we'll all find out if they really come thru in that Dept.

I thought Li Mei's spark looked a lot cooler - especially with that evil blue glow to it. I also like Nightwolf's arrows. Haven't seen most of the others mentioned here.

I think their sparks are too "pretty" because they have that calm little trail after them. I want the big ass blue/white flame that Sindel used to have for her fireball and I want violent particles falling from it. That purple thing sucks.

The projectile effects were definately my least favorite thing about MKDA but since they have the engine up already I dont know how much they can do about it. That is definately where they should make the improvement though.
As a positive I did enjoy Quan Chi's skull.. mabey the wrong color green but it still looked really good. The shadow kick was nice too.
Hey as little as these rants can be I hope the MK Team is still watching and realizing what the hell the feedback ALREADY is on a game that isn't out yet.

They'd be dumb to ignore.

as an example, you can see that Ryu's fireball has grown in both size and color, from the original to the prsent. Although street fighter is no mortal kombat, i just was trying to show that the projictiles in this genre have grown dramatically to super dragon ball z style projectiles...meaning that they are a huge intricate part of THIS game. I guess the point im trying to make is go HUGE, not average!

Quan chi's Skull projectile was awesome in DA, it made that throaty scream, not to mention that awesome skull at the end of a misty green smoke trail. MY favorite was when the skull projecile was blocked, and it careened into the camera.

But if you look at subs little blue ball of icey fluff cake, it feels a little weak. Sub is just TOO DAMN COOL to have a little fluffy cloud to sparkle across the screen...



Kung Lao's Hat Throw was also awesome!

I deffintly think they should spice up the projecticles. But im not sure I want Dragon Ball type stuff. I think a good idea would be to mix it up. Have some more finese projectiles.. Smaller faster, and some larger, maybe slower, more powerful ones. That was everything doesn't look and feel the same. Sorta like the Acid Spit, Blood Spit, Raidens Electricity, and the Sparkler in MKDA were all bascially the same thing only a different color.

Right I dont wnat them to be HUGE I just want them to represent their characters. Make the projectiles.. and the particles falling off of them act more violently... make raiden's lightning bolt look different from li mei's little.. fluff thing...

I totally agree, the projectiles really sucked in DA and look like they are gonna suck again.But i hope they fix this before release October

I think a cool affect/idea for sub-zero, would maybe have it grow as it get's shot. So when you do the move, his hands start to glow that color, then he schoots it, and it's more tight, like in MKDA, then as it drifts away it starts to expand a little bit, with little flakes of ice falling off the tail.

thats a great idea! it would add some strategy too, you would do more distance projectiles. If it got bigger (or grew) as it traveled then it would be harder to avoid.
