You think that Shaolin Monks is going to have the Midway MK2 comic as the storyline? They have bits in there that the game says never happened (ie. Shang Tsung and other Outworlders attacking Johnny Cage on his movie set, Cage being interrogated by Jax over Sonya, Scorpion beating up Reptile before Rep could kill Sub-Zero (a no-one-kills-Sub-but-me thing).
I ask this because nothing has contradicted Midway MK1's comic. And Tobias' involvement with both makes it all canon.

Acctualy i belive all comics after MK1 were considered non/canon. and seeing as tobias is nolonger part of the team he dosent have alot of say otherthen mabey some creation rights. i remember the MKII Era comics and althogh cool they had way to many inconsistanceis to be considered anything ebsides alternate reality. so no i don;t think it's gonna follow the comic :( although it owuld have been cool.

I'm talking about the comics Tobias was actually a part of that were released from Midway, by the way, not the stupid Malibu comics. The Malibu comics are not canon at all. Only the following, supposedly, are canon:
The MK1 comic was only attainable by calling a number and ordering it via the arcade machine.
The MK2 comic you could only get by the same way, only over the MK2 arcade machine.
The MK4 comic came with the PC home version.
Those are the only comics that Tobias had say in. Therefore the only ones that should be considered canon.
And for AloneInLife's info, I don't have any scans, but I can tell you the story as far as I know it:
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Jax and his Special Forces are searching for Sonya overseas where she was last seen. Instead, they find Johnny Cage, who's just floating in the water. They rescue him and interrogate him about Sonya. Cage tells them about the tournament and Outworld's threat, but Jax doesn't believe him and throws him out. Cage goes back to making movies.
Shang Tsung returns to Outworld facing death, convinces Shao Kahn of his new plan. Shao Kahn likes it, restores Shang Tsung's youth, blah blah blah you know the beggining story.
They decide to strike back.
Shang Tsung sends Baraka and some Tarkatans to go destroy Liu Kang's temples. They do, destroying everything in sight.
When Liu Kang gets there, he finds everyone dead and his temples ruined. Except for Kung Lao, who evidently survived along with other Shaolin monks. Raiden teleports down and tells them what happened, and that they must hurry to America, because the Outworlders are planning to attack Johnny Cage. Before they leave, Sub-Zero appears. He was passing through to try and find a way to assassinate Shang Tsung for the Lin Kuei, and when he sees that Liu Kang and Kung Lao want him too, he decides to join them to gain easier access. They all go...
Jax receives a distress signal from Sonya, telling him where she is and to warn him that they are planning to assassinate Johnny Cage. However, communication breaks off. So, Jax and a Special Forces member go to save Cage.
Johnny Cage is working on his latest movie, and that's when the Outworlders attack. Shang Tsung, Reptile, Kitana, Mileena, and Kintaro all storm the movie set and attempt to end Cage's life. But before they can, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax, Sub-Zero, and Raiden all intervene. (During the fight, Scorpion saves Sub-Zero from Reptile. Nobody kills Sub-Zero but him). They manage to fight them off, through which Shang Tsung invites them all to the MK2 tournament. So, they follow him into Outworld all for different reasons.
Also, Baraka and Mileena are planning to overthrow Shao Kahn.
Something like that. I could be wrong.

why in the comic story do they want to end Cage's life so badly? im sure it was just to attract the other participants but still that sounds pretty weird.

Well, I'm actually pretty sure they were trying to kill Liu Kang too when they sent Baraka and the Tarkatans after his temples. I'm sure it was by pure coincidence that Liu Kang wasn't there. Remember, he, Cage, Sonya, and Raiden (moreso Liu Kang) were responsible for them losing the tournament. They already captured Sonya, and Raiden was an Earthrealm god so they couldn't touch him. So they were trying to kill the only two warriors they could.

Dude, thanks ALOT for that. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
But now that I look at the MK2 comic.....yeah, it's probably been retconned. cause alot of the stuff in there is out of continuity.
Shang Tsung's island is still around in MKDA, so it couldn't be destroyed in MK1. That's the first noticeable thing. I could go on, but nah. In this case, hopefully MKSM tells MK2 in a better way. Cause, quite frankly, the MK2 comic was kind of corny, Power Ranger-ish.
The MK1 comic was awesome. I wouldn't mind if that was in continuity.

I doubt it, but its possible.
I posted a long time ago a big thread with all the possible info on ALL the Mk comics.
If I find it, I will post it here for all to read. smile
Last time that site was updated was 22/07-2004.
It was just some screenshots of gameplay for MK Deception.
