He murdered Liu Kang outside of a tournament...so he may not be the so-called champion. Liu Kang wasn't defeated in Mortal Kombat...he was just ambushed and murdered. Though since i'm a Shang fan, I'd be happy beleiving he's the new 'champion'. But who knows how DA turned out at this point? Maybe Kung Lao defeated him, maybe he didn't. We'll find out soon enough.

If the MK champion of Mortal Kombat gets murdered outside of a tournament then wouldn't his murderer be the new champion? If not then would it be possible for there to be an MK without a champion?

you know who the real champion in any MK tournament is? it is YOU, the player. when you beat the game, you're tha champion of mortal kombat.

at some point in time there wasn't a MK champ until someone won ...so i guess we are back at that point.

But I remember Raiden said in the MK:DA introduction that Mortal Kombat has always been and always will be.There must of been a champion from the beginning.

There can't be a champion of MK at the moment as he was killed outside of the tournament.

And because Tsung killed him out of the MK tournament, he has not become the champion.

However in saying that, the game hasn't been about a tournament for quite a long time now
