Something I noticed about Liu Kang (intro spoilers)

In the intro, Shang tries to fire a dragon fireball at Onaga. If you remember, in the older games, MKT, etc., Liu Kang had a move very similar to that. This leads me to believe, that like Quan was rumoured to do, Shang disappeared, then transformed into Liu Kang, or he removed Liu Kang's soul from the soldier & revived him, which allowed him to lose the ability to shoot a dragon fireball.

Uh... what? Liu's soul has always been inside Tsung. I just believe that Tsung was killed in Raiden's blast, whether or not along with Chi, and the releasing of Kang's soul allowed Raiden, Dragon King or whatever to resurrect him. Or maybe he just came back by himself, seeing that he could **SPOILER** take over Kano's soul in Quan's ending in DA
