***Please excuse my english, I'm a French Canadian***
Ever since the third Mortal Kombat I've always wanted the MK team to ahve different voices for the characters.
I mean why does Sindel sound like Mileena and Ashrah?
Is it really hard for programmers to have more than just one male voice and one female voice. I know nothing for programming, but they did it with Sheeva in MK3.
It's not just caus i'm picky... it's because after a while it gets anoying... especialy with the female voices.
What do you thnik?
Thanks

To tell you the truth, it has never bothered me. Ask yourself...if they were to change the voices of the chicks when they get hit, do you actually think it will change the way you look at MK?
Personally, I am glad that they placed their priorities elsewhere, like the massive amount of characters, levels, moves, and two new mini games.
But that is just my opinion.....

It's no big deal to put more voices in surely? You don't
need to hire voice talent for screams do you?!!?
When I make games, I simply yell into my microphone.
I can never understand why they don't add more voices.
And I wouldn't call 'em lazy if you look at all the work
they had to do.
I suppose sound sampling uses up a fair amount of
memory though.

True.
All true... and it's a good thing they put their priority elsewhere...
But it would be neet to have personalised voice, it would make it more... real? (even though the game is irreal.. anyways....)

It bugs me also.
Is it that hard to for them to just record a bunch of diffrent screams and gibberish? The MK characters lack personality and the fact that they all sound the same (with a few exeptions) contribute to this.
They don't need to hire anyone they could just do the voices themselves. I guess they are just lazy.

Yeah I think it is all about the amount space that sound files use. When you compare how much substance there is to the size of the files its probably not worth it.

Well if I remember, the home version of UMK3 didn't
have the announcer saying character names or stuff
like "KABAL WINS', for example.
All that stuff was removed, probably due to memory
issues.
If you look at the amount of stuff being crammed into
MK:D, then memory could be an issue.

I guess you're right, so we are left with 3 excuses:
1-Game not finished but it will be done!
2-Not enough time.
3-Just plain lazy!

I agree, and it's not nit-picking. The characters do lack personality. And, although the voice acting may not seem like a big deal to some, it does matter, or people would'nt be pointing it out. I think whatever they need to do to give the characters thier own individuality, it should be done. Believe it or not, it all adds to the interactivity of the game.

You guys are also forgetting that once they asign a voice to a certain character, they have to match that voice for that character for now on, on every game, or people will start complaining how they don't sound the same or that they are different characters becoue they have different voices.
There is much more than just having people scream into a michrophone.
