"Character selection is looking good, with old-time favorites like Sonya, Sub Zero, and Scorpion making the cut. Newer characters feel more like characters from popular JDM fighters, with specific fighting styles and classic martial arts moves. Bo Rai Cho was a crowd favorite with his love of the sauce, and the ability to use his afternoons meal as a slippery offensive weapon in the same manner that Sub Zero uses frozen water. Another cool character was Ermac, who can summon a second holographic character that looks like GI Joes Snake Eyes. The result is a tag-team ass beating of the worst kind. "
They must be super confused.
Opinions ?

I don't recall Bo' Rai Cho being a "crowd favorite"

Yeah I read that Team Xbox article and posted a thread about it yesterday, what the HELL is up with the author of that preview??
Unless he knows something that we don't about Sonya, which I doubt, I'm thinking that he took about a ten minute look at a video, and without ever touching the game (or any other MK game for that matter) went and wrote his preview. Okay, maybe that's a bit harsh, but honestly...Where does he get Sonya out of the Gamer's Day footage? And Snake Eyes? What the hell?
Also, how many people liked the fact that out of three pages of a PREVIEW, the first one was devoted almost entirely to talking about MK's place in fighting games, and comparing them to Pearl Jam (again what the hell!?!?). Now, I could see doing this as part of a longer REVIEW of the game, or maybe some historical perspective on the series as a whole...But in a preview? Note to author: You're supposed to be telling us about the game. What are the games features? Can you tell us about the characters? How about the backgrounds? Any new information there? Any secrets gleened out of the game's creators? Can you tell us more about the game modes? Can you compare this game to a grunge band from the early 90's?
Oh wait...Not that last one.
I don't mean to be a snob here or anything, but seriously now...If you're going write a preview, you need to do two things. 1) Provide information and 2) make sure that information is accurate. Nuff said.
Good topic man! I was really curious to see what other people thought if this article. Alf pretty much sums it up! lol

rofl that alf pic is hilarious...i think that the author of that must not have liked mk so he either a: decided to screw with us and stir up rumours resulting him him hopefully getting fired or b: he doesnt have his green card so he took the first job open to him that took partial english understanding

Psymon,
Thank you for your email and also for including the list of approved
characters for Mk: Deception. I was under the impression that Sonya was
saved as a character, even though I didn't witness her for my own eyes when
I played the demo. I must also apologize for confusing the footage of Noob
with Ermac. We try to get our facts straight here at TXB, but it is usually
our hardcore fans which are quick to point out the mistakes we have made.
I actually have played Mk: Deception, and I have played other Mortal Kombat
games, but I guess you wouldn't know it judging from my grievous errors in
my article. Changes to the article have been made, and I encourage you to
use our new reader review feature to write a review of your own on MK:
Deception....we are looking for some multiple opinions and scores on the
same game.
I will edit my article much more closely after your eye opening
email....working at the Weekly World News just doesn't sound that fun :)
Best regards,
Dale

Dear Dale:
I just read your Mortal Kombt: Deception Updated
impressions, and was very disapppointed to find that you had
clearly not properly done your research into the article,
and it seems you may not even have played the game yourself.
Possibly you have never played a single Mortal Kombat game.
You wrote: "Character selection is looking good, with old-
time favorites like Sonya, Sub Zero, and Scorpion making the

MKD. The confirmed character roster is as follows:
1.Scorpion
2.Sub-Zero
3.Mileena
4.Raiden
5.Noob Smoke
6.Baraka
7.Dairou
8.Ashrah
9.Ben/Kobra
10.Kira
11.Ermac
12.Kenshi
13.Li Mei
14.Bo Rai Cho
15.Shujinko
16.Hotaru
17.Darrius
18.Liu Kang[x2]
19.Nightwolf
20.Tanya
21.Havik
22.Jade
23.Kabal
24.Sindel
25.Onaga, The Dragon King
Perhaps you tooka furtive glance at Ben "Kobra" Masters,
who is also blond and also uses the Kali sticks as a weapon.
Though this is the most likely candidate for mistaken
identity, your error is still appalling, considering the
character is male. One wonders if you were entirely awake
during the event.
Later, you wrote:"Another cool character was Ermac, who can
summon a second holographic character that looks like GI
Joe's Snake Eyes. The result is a tag-team ass beating of
the worst kind." The only tag team in MK:D is Noob/Smoke,
i.e. Noob Saibot -in the black outfit- and Smoke - the
elemental made of smoke (therefore semi-transparent)- take
turns in the arena. The introducton of this tag team
character was one of the main focuses of the presentation
given by Ed Boon earlier at the event. Furthermore, Ermac,
Smoke, and Noob Saibot have all been around since MKII, and
their colors haven't been changed since.
Perhaps you should step aside and let somebody who actually
likes covering video games write the articles. I'm sure you
could get a job at the Weekly World News.
Sincerely,
Psymon Anteros

Wow Man, you just laid down the LAW with that letter. It straight up smacked that dude in the face and said "wtf bitch, you dont know shit". I found it hilarious and well written. I myslef probably wouldn't of had the courage to insult him the way you did, but BRAVO. Guarentee he will be thinking twice next time he goes to write a preview. Because faults like the ones he had lsited in the preview go on to become some of the worst rumors and responsible for some horrendous flames here on the boards.
Glad he corrected the article, but you know now for sure that people believed him 100% and are writng a bunch of false "I Told You So's" to those that didnt beleive them in the first place. Sonya Blade might be in the game, but to say something like "i saw her" is just obscure.
