Stage fatalities

Am i to understand that you can perform stage fatalities during match play? for example, you are fighting against an opponent and early into the match you strategically position your opponent onto a certain "square" of place in the areana and if you do your button comboms right, you can do a stage fatality even if they have like 75% of their life?

I imagine it would be on the last round and when the opponent has almost no life left and only then wil the glowing red block apear. I cant see it being able to do it at the begining of Round One.

yeah that makes more sense..but do you think you have to be in the right place to do a stage fatality or do you think itll be like DA where you can do your fatality from anywhere and then the cut scene will play?
