Sub-Zeros Fighting Styles!????

Ok, i was looking at the new screens and i noticed that it looked like Sub-Zero had sum style called Gojuryu. Also in the gameplay video he had Scorpions Pi Gui fighting style. Does this mean that he is going to have new styles??? Or r they just using those styles because they dont have models yet for the characters those styles belong to?? So does this mean there is a chance Mileena wont have Li Meis horrible Lui He Ba Fa style??? I hope she has her own new ones or i will be mad.

I don't know, but I find it strange that they would just pload a new style into Sub-Zero, the load another style that they know works (Pi Gua) into Subby too. It seems they're trying to establish Sub-Zero as a true master, and an equal to Scorpion once again.
Yup. I was just looking at a magazine from over a year ago earlier today, and saw a pre-release ad for MKDA in it. In those pics, Sub-Zero had Shaolin Fist and Tai Chi styles. Since that obviously proved to be untrue, I wouldn't try to read too much into pics of characters with "wrong" styles now for Deception.

yah thats what i thought, so there is a real good chance Mileena wont have that stupid style then. Anyways i never seen any of the early Mk:Da screens.

I did, but what is the point of releasing a character with a style that they've already tested?

Hey Grimm, you're the one that said "Kabal HAS to return!" so don't get stuck into anyone else.
pi gua will stay with scorpion i imagine. there's been plenty of scorpion pics where he's doing his hapkido u+4 (and his pit fatality hapkido kicks). it's looking like scorpion will keep his styles from mkda (which owns). unless they replace his ninja sword which is doubtful.
as for sub-zero, i'm skeptical if he has new styles. while change is always welcome, the returning characters from mkda should keep their stances and the mk team should just improve them and add to them.

No ur unfucking-believable, we have the right to say or complain about anything we feel like, so y dont u stop complaining about us complaining and just dont reply to the threads. Just like u said Sub-Zeros styles kicked ass, thats y i think they should stay and was wondoring if those styles in the screens were going to be his new styles, but thankfully it looks like they arent. U pretty much said everything i said in my first post just shortened. So lets just stop this now before ppl start flaming each other and getting the thread closed.

I agree with the fact that this pictures are from EARLY stages of development. Rememer what Midway said about the German OPM info?; they practically said that even though they were not lying, the info was from OLD stage of development. Same thing could happen to the new video, it is a TEASER trailer, so probably they put the video to show how the breaking-walls will look like, and not for us to see fighting styles; not considering the fact that the actually details could bring some rumors and speculation. Anyways, what was shown in the picture is probably from EARLY STAGES of DEVELOPMENT and subject to change.
Other than that, as my personal oppinion; I did not like Li Mei's fighting styles in MKDA, and since Mileena is my fav character I sure hope she does not have Li Mei's fighting styles; however I'm not too worried, as from what they said(the team) it points to the fact that it's a beta and not final. Also, the fact that Midway is not releasing info at any cost lately cuz of E3, could confirm that the video was made from an old version. I guess the MK Team will provide more details and videos(probably a new trailer) on E3, so my suggestion is the same as always, let's just wait till E3 to know(just 25 days remaining).

yeah, i agree with most of you that the footage/images are taken from an early stage version and are not 100% sure. But still i hope that they would give the seen Gojuryu style to good old subby, as IMO shotokan did not suit to subby(he is a Ninja for Cristh sake, sort of...)and Gojuryu in my understanding is an old traditional style related to ninjutsu(if not a form or style of Ninjutsu, like Shotokan and Wado-ryu are a form/style of Karate).
So any way i hope that the development team will think REALLY carefully to what styles give to whom, as in DA some styles did not suit to the charachter they were given(e.g.kano & aikido)
Heads up...

Well I pray to god, and truly believe, that those screenshots are in deed just beta versions of the game.
I do hope that Sub-Zero will keep his old fighting styles. I'm pretty much satisfied with Shotokan (I mean, it's som esort of Brutal Karate, or not?) and it suited him well. Dragon was perfect for Sub-Zero, but I think that the combos from Shotokan were better. Still, I hope he keeps his Dragon style, unless that Gurju (sorry for the wrong süelling) style should be way better. The weapon could change into a MUCH better one, cause his Kori Blade was pretty slow and had very little combos...

Grimm Wrote: What does that have to do with anything? I said he had to return. That's not complaining. You are the one complaining like a little bitch. And look, Kabal is back. |
1. I never insulted you, why did you insult me?
2. I never complained once about anything. I said I think they've made a few strange decisions, that's not complaining.
3. Kabal isn't officially back, he just has a VERY strong chance.
4. Saying "Kabal has to return." is a) wrong and b) implying that if he is not, you will angry and eventually complain. If I said "Mavado needs to return.", I am dictating. That would be the equivalent of me saying "You need to wear a blue shirt tomorrow". What you said is sort of like complaining in advance. If Kabal isn't/wasn't in the game, I'm 99.9% sure you would complain about him, as you stated his return is needed (which it is not). 5. Are you a professional writer? If not then you can't really comment on whether or not something "needs" to happen. 6. What does Kabal retuning (unofficially) have to do with whether or you or me was complaining?

Yeah, Sub-Zero had Shaolin Fist, Tae Kwon Do, and Straight Sword in the early developments of MK: DA but when the game was released, he had Shotokan, Dragon, and Kori Blade.
Shotokan is a combination of Shorin-Ryu and Shorei-Ryu, two of the main Okinawan styles of Karate-Do. Goju-Ryu and Uechi-Ryu are two styles of Karate-Do that come from Shotokan. Goju-Ryu has the power aspects of Shorei-Ryu and Uechi-Ryu has the speed aspects of Shorin-Ryu. The interesting thing about Shorin-Ryu Karate-Do is that most of it's techniques are influenced from Shorinji Kempo (Shaolin Fist).
Anyway, I doubt Sub-Zero will keep Goju-Ryu and Pi Gua Zhang. I hope he'll keep Dragon for obvious reasons. As for his other style, I feel that it should be a personalized style. Some feel that he should have some form of Ninjitsu since they say that he's a Ninja. But like I've said many times in the past, Sub-Zero is associated with the Lin Kuei (Forest Demons). I'd want Sub's personalized style to be like Ninjitsu but not exactly like Ninjitsu. It should have the grappling techniques of Shuai Chiao and Chin Na. It should have the pressure point techniques of Dim Mak. And it should have aspects of other styles.

You obviously have a large knowledge in martial arts. I really hope they do give him the Gojiryu and Pi Gua styles. That would rule.

Many have said that I know a lot about martial arts, but in actuality, I know very little.

Well you're probably not a master of them, but I think you have a pretty good general knowledge of them.

Perhaps...
I'm only a white/yellow sash in Kung Fu and have only studied a bit of Long Fist (Chang Chuan) and Southern Fist (Nan Chuan).

Martial arts syles aren't trademarked. In my time, I've tried several martial arts. I'm only an orange belt in Jujitsu, and just did a couple of lessons of Tae Kwon Do, etc. But all of those was with a class. If the Lin Kuei trained Chinese martial arts, and Takeda was in the Lin Kuei, and then Takeda taught the Shirai Ryu, wouldn't you think a few of the styles would be untouched? Meaning that Sub-Zero and Scorpion could use Pi Gua.
And I personally think Ninjitsu would fit way better on Scorpion.

Why? What would the point be? If the bad guys were going to die, I'd have the Special Forces or a new(ish) character kill them.
