So far the only student we're aware of that was apart of the Lin Kuei was Frost. What other students would you imagine Sub-Zero would have? Does he train all his students how to use the power of ice? Or, does he teach them how to develope their own special powers? I personally think it would be boring if all of Sub-Zero's students used the power of ice.

He teaches students of all ability, not just ice. Think old Lin Kuei Grandmaster, just not corrupt.

I'd like to see Sub-Zero train a ninja in the art of wind, as there is no sign of Fujin ever returning. When he/she wins the fight, he/she could say "Kaze no chikara wa anadoremasen ne." It was in my old sig, but it means "Do not underestimate the Power of Wind." It would be so cool to hear full speech in the character's native language, with sub-titles translating the words.

Sub Zero's ice power was just a skill passed through his family. No I am not saying frost is in anyway related to Sub zero, but I think that comparing Sub 0 to Professor X is a little extreme.
