The amount of (thought ?) dead characters in The Prison

I can't be the only one who's noticed this. We've had a lot of character sightings in the Prison stage; not to mention, some of them should be dead!


So far, the ones thought killed include

Goro
Jarek
Rain
Hsu Hao
Shinnok

Goro's death was a large part of Kitana's story in MKDA. Jarek's life being saved wouldn't bother many, seeing as he is a Kano clone with no further purpose.

Does this mean that the Dragon King is pinching souls from the Netherealm? Or the Heavens? Or have the stories of these characters been retconned, so they never died at all- they were only thought dead, a la Kung Lao in MK Gold?

Thoughts, anyone? Big story point, or just an excuse for characters to appear in the game?

Of that list I think Goro is the only one ever confirmed dead. Everyone else just disappeared.

Rain's ending had him being killed. Somya's MK4 ending had Jarek being killed (as did Jax's, although Sonya died too. And we know that's not so)

Jax's ending had Hsu Hao being killed (some posters with inside sources have said this ending "definitely" happened...who knows wink )

Like I say- if there was so much emphasis on these characters dying, why the reappearance? Have their endings been retconned (as I hear Shao Kahn's MKDA story will be), or is it something more?
EDIT: Bezou, I haven't seen Shinnok myself, although I saw his name on someone else's list of Prison characters. Nice Spirit Liu komics, by the way smile

yeah, I agree with Bezou, if I see shinnok in one of those cells, I pause the game, then I quit, and then I start over hoping that he is not there...

the ones that are dead or at least seem to, are:

Hsu Hao (heart ripped by Jax)
Jarek (fell over a cliff - squashed)
Goro (seemingly killed by Noob Saibot)
Shinnok (hopefully killed by someone in MK4)
Johnny Cage and Sonya (if they were killed by the DA)

Remember, not all endings are canon. As of now, Goro is the only dead one to appear.

In his MKT ending, Rain was killed after he switched sides to help the Earth warriors- after finding out Kahn killed his father (an Edenian General).

Rain's MKT ending said he went on a suicide mission to defeat Kahn. Obviously he didn't defeat Kahn, but we don't know for certain if he was at least successful at the suicide part.

Continuity has never been a big deal to the development team. They'll kill off and bring back whoever they want, whenever they want. Do you know of any fighting game where this is not so?

So far, we know NOTHING. The ONLY confirmed DEAD character is:

KITANA (but resurrected....)

Anyway:

Goro:

He could never had died! Kitana's ending may never had happened and her bio might be "incomplete". Goro could very well still be alive.

Jarek:

Not all endings happen, sometimes only parts. He could had died, he could be alive.

Rain:

His death has never been stated.

Hsu Hao:

Not all endings happen, sometimes only part of them.

Shinnok:

Not all endings happen, sometimes only parts of them.

So far, only KITANA is dead/died....and maybe Goro.

Maybe Onaga is resurrectiong dead warriors to serve in his army? The characters locked up are those that are not 100% loyal to him. Maybe The Drak Prison is an arena in Seito, or the Chaosrealm? The characters could be locked up to allow order, or prevent it. Before the characters die, they are transported into their cells by member(s) of that realm.

I dont think the ppl in the cells have anything to do with the story, its just a game as much as i hate to say that.

ill bet hell have a large part in mk7,
ill bet sindel will die in sum tragic way and rain will take the thrown of edenia , then he'll be a main guy in mk7.i hope ermac and noob/smoke come back along with the rest of the ninjas for mk7, ANYWAYS he was never killed off. never . give me one quote talking of his death.tonguetonguetonguetongue

So far ive only seen:
Fujin, Jade, Drahmin, Kitana, Reiko, Stryker in the jail cells. Who else has beens een and does anyone ahve pictures of them? I cant watch the videos that ahve jsut been released, is that where mroe fighters ahve been seen?
