Nothing is What it Seems...I think I smell a potential slogan for Deception there.

Maybe killing Kahn makes him become even more powerful, kind of like a Jedi

I'm not sure if anyone pointed this out before but the Shao Kahn that appears in DA seems so much shorter than he is supposed to be. Either Midway decided to change his height or they overlooked this fact.

This can serve as part of the platform for his return. Reiko could be the decoy that got killed so we never see his face again.

Before you get all snippy, you should realize your own argument is ridiculous. Why WOULDN'T he want to have a decoy? Kahn was weakened after being beaten. To preserve his own life while he struggles to regain his power, would it not be in his best interests to MAYBE set up a decoy on the throne, so that, in the event that someone takes advantage of his weakened state, he would still be alive? Obviously, Kahn knows that Shang Tsung is capable of treachery. Maybe he thought 'Hey...if that sorcerer decided to turn on me now, how can I be sure that I'll defeat him?'. With Reptile and Noob running around doing deeds for him, Kahn would be left defenseless. It probably isn't the case, but Daemos' theory of a Kahn decoy in DA is rather well thought-out and makes sense to some degree. And no, Shang would not have noticed it was a decoy, if the decoy was a perfect representation of Kahn. Since Kahn is a demon, as shown in the official MK2 instruction booklet, comic and story, I doubt Reiko, a rather scrawny little human, would pass for Kahn. But through his magic, Kahn could have easily created a clone of himself. This is Mortal Kombat...anything can happen.

sigh...ur missing the point...we r talkin about SHAO KAHN the boss that took 2 mks to kill...u might be thinkin of the shao kahn from the movie...who was a punk..this shao kahn from the game has pride.... makin a decoy of himself would be like killin that pride..
now if it was quan chi or shang in his shoes... yea i'd think they'd make a decoy for demselves.. but not kahn

or khan could have already been weakened and after this, he is weakened even more to the point of being a playablefighter.

We have an interesting dilemma.

1st, it would be hard to say that Shao Kahn wasn't dead, because I doubt Quan, Shang, Kano, and Reptile would all mistake him for dead.

2nd, In MKs past, when he was defeated, there was a pretty cool lightshow. However, all we see in MKDA is his helmet rolling down.

3rd, It couldn't be Reiko. I don't have any official artwork of Kahn, but his picture without the mask on looks alot different than Reiko.

4th, It says he's the Immortal Emperor of Outerworld several times at least in the MKT manual. Therefore, he can only be killed in Mortal Kombat. Granted, Boon can change continuity at his leisure, but I just wanted to point that out.

So here's my scenario. Shao Kahn, having been weakened by war and the MK tournaments, realizes that when he sent Reptile to fetch Tsung, and only Tsung returned (plus Chi), he realized that it could be a trap. Scince he is the boss of the Shadow Priests, he had them create a Kahn double, just in case the DA attacked, which they did. Then when they did, he decided to go into hiding, just to keep his enemies from attacking him

He can onbly be killed through the tournament? Nah, Mortals can't kill Kahn easily. Powerful beings (like Rayden or the Elder Gods) can surely kill Kahn

Kahn's Immortality isn't really a product of the tournament...he himself is immortal. He can be killed outside of a tournament, just like Liu Kang was murdered by Shang Tsung.

Digital Assassin I didn't mean to call your argument ridiculous, but the point I'm trying to make is that Shao Kahn was VERY weak after losing in MK3. His attention was on Edenia, since he lost Edenia as a part of outworld. With so much going on, it would've been completely possible for someone to take advantage of his weakened state and kill him...and that someone turned out to be Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, who are two of the most powerful sorcerers in any realm.

As for Shao Kahn being killed...decoy or not, that bloody helmet rolled down the steps. If it was Kahn, I would imagine him being beaten terribly bad...maybe not dead...but comatose, or in a completely near-death state. But Kahn is like a demi-god...it would take alot to kill him...ALOT.

Liu and Kahn's immortality are different. Kang is ageless, but can be killed easily.

That's the problem,Liu Kang was the immortal champion of Mortal Kombat. So how did Shang kill him with such a simple move.I thought it would have taken a lot more to kill an immortal then just snapping his neck.

Liu's immortality means that he's ageless. Meaning he can't die of old age. But he can be killed. If he's not killed he can live forever
