Wow, After I saw Darrius' bio, it's all I can say. His Picaso Fatality, is VERY creative. It's on my top ten list. It was just awesome! Along with Darrius, I love the fact that all of these new characters are raising the bar on the Mortal Kombat Kombatants. Darrius is one of my favorites, well new ones, that is. Kobra and Havik, along with Hotaru, wow, Midway outdid themselves here. They actually brought in some new characters who have got people debating on. I suppose this would be the topic to debate about it in.

I'm really thinking that the New Characters will be taking over for the Classics, and will be the ones to become the new classics. For instance...

Havik might be our new Noob Saibot.
Hotaru might be our new Scorpion.
Kobra, a mixture of Sonya and Kano.
Kira, Also a mixture of Sonya and Kano.
Ashrah, our new Raiden.
Darrius, the new Jax.
Shujinko, is of course the new Liu Kang.
I'm definately feeling this. Post your thoughts!

Well, The Arm rip for Darrius is better for him then Scorpion.
The Picaso Fatal is awesome. He totally rearranges his enemy's body and then stands back and admires it, then boots'em away.

The arm rip fatality fits Darrius perfectly. It didnt fit Scorpion at all, I'm glad and excited that Scorpion could possibly have his 'Toasty' fatality back or have a totally different and awesome fatality. I agree about the new characters, these characters are great, and look like tons of fun to play as. I can't wait to play Deception! It Will Konsume You October 4, 2004!

yeah i'm liking the new characters as well, but i don't know if they will replace the classic characters. it just wouldn't be mk without the classics.

I just hope all the new characters are in fact "new". For example, Kenshi is just a rehash of Ermac. I really don't need to see two guys with telekinesis in an MK game. (Hint: Put Kenshi out of his misery, or make him unique.)
Darius looks pretty unique. Shujinko has been done before. I liked him better the first time, when he was called Shinnok! At least many of the fatalities are new. Good brainstorming on the part of the MK Team!

Yeah Ermac may have had the power of telekenisis before Kenshim but he was utterly crap in the 2d games, and was hardly up to Kenshi's standard in DA.
Ermac has even stolen one of Kenshi's moves - so I think Ermac is more of the re-hashed character.
As for the other new characters, I think that Ashrah has lots of potential. Kira is a bit of a rip off i do agree, but she does also have some of her own moves, and has got an interesting story!
But new characters such as Darrius and Dairou should be locked up in a dark room and never released!

Shinnok blew!!My top worst mk character of all time.Anway,to get back on topic,I agree with you.I like the depth these new characters seem to have.Although I think Kobra will be the next Johnny Cage type instead of a Kano/Sonya hybrid.I don;t think Kira will last long either.As far as the rest...I think they are a welcome to the MK world.Much better than most of the new characters D.A. had to offer.
P.S. to the poster above.Ermac owned in 2d!He's always been the original tele-kenesis warrior.He could never be a rehash.He didn't steal any of Kenshis moves considering he taught Kenshi in the first place.You do the math.

I'm not exactly sure what to think....
Yeah Kira is obviously a bi-palette swap of Kano and Sonya. Ashrah has Raiden and Kung Lao's moves. Ermac and Kenshi have both "copied" off each other now. Every time I see Darius I think "Jax". Kobra has reminded a lot of people of Johnny Cage.
So are these new characters actually "new"? I mean seriously, are we seeing anything we haven't seen before? By Boon's own admittance, most of this game was spent on special features. And I hate to say it, but...... that is becoming more and more apparent everyday.

Although I agree with the fact they are fresh, they seem like reheated rather then fresh out of the oven. I believe that to cure the mixed feelings on Jax and Johnny Cage they gave us Darrius and Kobra to somewhat replace our missing fighters. I don't care because as long as the story continues odds are Boon will once again get my 50 bucks for the game, he's done it every other game. I'm liking Ashra's story, its just I feel her design is a little bland. If she had a white flowing gown as opposed to...whatever she is wearing I think it would deffinately work well. Hotaru and Havik are the only new characters I feel are worthy, Hotaru only because his design is very well thought out and Havik because there still is some mystery behind Havik (can we get a render PLEASE!). Anyways this is just my opinion, feel free to flame.

Kira, Kobra, and Ashrah are alright. The other four (apparently everyone forgot about Dairou) though...........meh, don't really care for them.

The only ones I feel have lost originality are Kira and Darrius.
I will give them a chance, but so far, they are unimpresive to me.

Kira looks like Sareena. Has Sonyas and Kanos moves. So so far shes not impressing me. The others I haven't seen enough of to judge.

Ermac might have been the origional TeleKinesis warrior, but Kenshi defined that in Deadly Alliance.
It's hard to say Ermac is a rehash since he did come first...however. Kenshi's moves are all his own, save the TK slam. Neither character is a rehash of anyone, they share a storyline, and it seems only one move.
If anything Ermac is better now, since he's no longer just a sorry ass pallet swap. Still though...
Kenshi > Ermac
