Nearly two-thousand years ago, there was a realm know as Tarkon. This realm was barren world covered with a large dessert and a few scattered mountains. One city was located in this realm, known as Vigro. This capital city was in reality one giant coliseum which house a large competition that lasted every day all year round. The inhabitants of the realm loved to fight to the death either with brutal hand-to-hand combat, with weapons, or even utilizing several sophisticated deathtraps laced about each designated battle arena in the coliseum.
The inhabitants of Tarkon came from many different races and species. Were it was a realm once much like earth, science was used to enhance qualities that aided in battle and suppressed other, pacifistic qualities that the race had previously inherited. This same science was used to create dangerous cyborgs programmed only for destruction and was also used to breed animals normally incompatible to create ravenous beasts, sometimes even breeding them with humans to create truly twisted fighters.
Torin Pax was a member of the race that closest resembled humans. Through their genetic engineering they were much larger then normal humans and carried substantially more muscle mass. Torin was a huge and vicious fighter who shaved his head regularly as most gladiators did and wore pieces of scrap metal as gladiatorial armor. His favorite form of combat was hand to hand, as Torin found nothing more pleasurable then the feel of his foes bones crushing under the strength of his massive hands. The smell of burnt flesh, the taste of fresh blood, and the sound of shattered limbs were intoxicating to the young gladiator.
Torin greatly admired his father, Mavrick, who was the current undefeated champion of the arena. Mavrick was the largest of his kind and he bore spiked gladiator armor with a massive war hammer that he called Theurge. As champion, he was promoted to the status of a God, and charged with the duty of protecting the realm, a task he never found difficult but always pleasurable. Torin looked forward to the day, ever since he was little, that he would kill his father in honorable combat and claim the throne of Guardian of Tarkon.
There came a day when a strange portal opened in the skies of Tarkon, and a horde invaded the one city in the realm. However, the invaders were no match for the battle-hardened gladiators, who happily hacked and crushed their aggressive attackers into dust. Suddenly, the tide shifted when the second wave of invaders came through. These fighters were massive, every bit as large and vicious as the Tarkon Gladiators themselves, but they bore two extra arms each. The Shokan army was a tough match for the gladiators, who relished in the challenge.
Torin found himself engaged with a then young Goro. Though still thought a child by the long-living members of his own race, Goro was full grown by this time and every bit as strong as he would ever be. Torin found a delightful challenge in Goro and the two titans founded each other fiercely atop a large desert canyon. As they fought, Torin could see down into the valley as the leader of the invaders challenged his father. A young, recently crowned Emperor of Outworld, Shao Kahn stepped up to challenge the guardian to Mortal Kombat. Mavick accepted and the two forces collided. Shao Kahn, though a powerful sorcerer, lacked the physical strength to stand up to Mavrick, and was easily tossed down. As Kahn climbed to his feet, his opponent’s war hammer smacked him squarely on the head, and sends the young emporer flying. Kahn’s helmet was split in twine, and blood trickled from a large gash on his forehead into his eyes. The guardian bellowed a deep laugh as he approached for the finishing stroke when suddenly he found he could not move. A group of Kahn’s sorcerers had used their magic to paralyze the titan and left him wide open for their emperor, who took full advantage. Kahn punched a spiked fist directly between the legs of his larger foe. With blood gushing from an extremely vulnerable spot, Mavrick fell to his knees. Another spiked knee strike to his face caused the guardian to lean back dizzily and drop his hammer. Shao Kahn took up the massive weapon and struck his adversary square in the chest, causing him to lean back completely and break his backbone. Now fully paralyzed, Mavrick was defenseless as Kahn walked up beside him, removed his helmet, and used the war hammer to deliver the final blow to the exposed head of Mavrick, crushing his skull completely. Shao Kahn then opened his mouth to absorb the soul of his vanquished foe. After he did so, Kahn grew greatly in size; to the proportions he is now known. His old armor crumbled beneath his increased muscle mass and Kahn was stronger then he’d ever been until then. Indeed, this was the reason he invaded this realm first. Kahn claimed the gladiatorial armor of Mavrick for himself, and modified the helmet to include a skull faceplate, his own personal touch to it. He would also keep the mystical war hammer for himself.
Torin watched in horror at the battle. Hatred inside him boiled to a new level not at the fact that his father was beaten, but in the dishonorable way it happened. The loyal Goro took advantage of his distraction and floored Torin with a fireball. The young gladiator, now last of his race, regained consciousness in time to see Shao Kahn rewarding his loyal sorcerer who lead the sneak attack against Mavrick, Shang Tsung, who was promoted to being Kahn’s second in command. Kahn offered Torin to spare his life if he swore to serve the emperor, and was urged by Kahn to accept the offer in order to allow the legacy of his people to live on through him. Torin boiled over with rage, threw off his Shokan oppressors, and threw a fireball at Kahn. The newly empowered emperor was unfazed by the attack, however, and as punishment decided to steal Torin’s soul, for himself. He used Theurge to smash the last gladiator right in the chest, knocking the wind out of him and breaking his ribs. Torin coughed blood as Kahn began to steal his soul. However, to Shao Kahn’s surprise, he succeeded in tearing Torin’s soul from his body but the hatred that burned within it kept him from absorbing it. The soul of Torin stood before the dark Emperor and flared with hatred before suddenly dissipating. Kahn assumed that his victim was sucked into the underworld, and turned to his lead sorcerer, who was enamored by the whole event, and promised to pass onto him the dark arts of stealing souls.

Kahn was wrong, however. The same powerful hatred that kept him from absorbing Torin’s soul allowed him to also resist the pull of the Netherrealm. As Tarkon was absorbed into Outworld, creating the wastelands that would largely envelope Outworld forever after, Tarkon’s restless spirit would be torn apart by the dark magic, and reborn in the belly of Outworld.
While Mavrick’s soul now belonged to Shao Kahn, the power held in his body left a curse forever on Kahn’s world. As the former titan’s blood was absorbed by the ground, the plants that would grow forth would be warmed, tainted by the hatred in his dying thoughts. Thus the living forest was born, and so it would forever feed from Kahn’s minions, and others foolish enough to enter those woods. It’s hunger would never be sated.
Thousands of years have passed since his death, and Torin’s rebirth is now complete. Reborn as an elemental of Outworld, his mind has been overwhelmed with hatred. His new body is composed of the various infectious elements of this cursed realm. His skin was now made out of the rock of the Wastelands, made to look like a black suit of thick armor. Cracks in the armor revealed the molten lava that flowed underneath as blood for this new being. His face distorted into a toothy maw and twisted with hatred, glowed red from within. From his eyes and mouth, black smoke billows out. Black tar leaks from his mouth as toxic saliva and his hair is made of the angry and twisted vines of the Living Forest.
This new being has little memory of his former life. Only a lingering hatred that has fueled his reincarnation for Shao Kahn and Goro remains. He travels as The Hellbringer with one purpose in mind now, destruction.
Fighting Style: Titan – his fighting instincts from his past remain in tact.
Weapon Style: Lava Ax – Created from his elemental blood, this axe is his hatred taken shape.
Special Moves:
Flame Shot – Hellbringer creates a ball of flames from his inner hate into his hand and hurls it at the enemy.
Toxic Venom – A thick black tar is spit from his mouth at the enemy’s eyes, causes temporary blindness (stuns enemy)
Black Whirlwind – Hellbringer’s body is developed in thick black smoke as he spins around rapidly, turning himself into a tornado strong enough to deflect projectile attacks.
Rock Shot – Hellbringer tears a large chunk of the ground out and hurls it at his enemy, slow projectile with stun capabilities.
Finishers:
Chaos Storm – Hellbringer summons a massive black tornado around himself. Chunks of his armor and spats of his lava blood leak into the tornado. He compresses it into a black ball with the glowing red lava and thick black rock condensed together. He hurls the projectile at his target and when it hits the middle of their body is melted through at the rest is blown off by the powerful wind.
Entrapment – Hellbringer entombs his target in black rock which he superheats until it is glowing read. The unfortunate victim is melted to ash in the molten rock.
Hara-Kiri – Hellbringer falls to his knees and howls as his inner lava flows out and melts his rock body away. Nothing is left but a smoldering pile.
Ending: Seeing Hellbringer as the ultimate messiah of Chaos, Havik promises to help the creature destroy Shao Kahn and Goro. When Shao Kahn finally falls, all the souls he’s taken are released, and Mavrick’s spirit confronts his son, and awakens his inner mind. Now fully aware, Hellbringer turns on Havik and destroys him as well. Mavrick’s spirit joins with his son to make him stronger then ever. The new Hellbringer has one desire only, to build a new Coliseum, and restart the death games in place of Mortal Kombat. A new era of Kombat begins...
