1. Sub Zero (Nice combos and his fatalities rock, especially the 2nd)
2. Noob-Smoke (plays fast and switches can be used to confuse your opponent)
3. Jade (Great character and fighting styles are sweet)
4. Scorpion (Combos and special attacks are impressive)
5. Kira (Fights like Kano and Sonya, which is a major plus)

My fav's got to be Ermac.
Its loads of fun playing as him. This fighter is good at long range and can really kicks ass if played smartly. His bombs (when he floats and then lands on the ground) and other special moves are almost all good.
At close range he still has a few options but you'll have a hard time against a guy like Baraka for example who's really quick.
I just wish the fighting engine wasn't that stiff and I would really have a blast with him.
Other than that, he just looks cool and I love his story. Midway must get rid of Kenshi however... those 2 are basically identical in terms of special moves and that just isn't right.
Oh, and my 2nd fav right now is Kira. Quick and aggressive... she is your more standard MK fighter.

Mileena is the BEST MORTAL KOMBAT character!! Shes the PERFECT character for mk and she fits in PERFECTLY! Shes dark, evil, full of anger, depression, quick and she has the DEEPEST story than any other character in MK! So yea, Mileena (i think) is like the best female character in MK atleast! shes awesoME!
Male, ofcourse Scorpion is great, but i have to say, ERMAC is AWESOME in Deception! I love his new loooK!

Then there's Baraka(blades), Kenshi, Nightwolf, Scorpion, and finally
Kabal.I don't really have that valid of a point seeing as how I haven't unlocked everyone.

Defemitly Mileena hands down!

For me it's Fujin, because he has the most potential out of any non-popular fighter.
Of the ones in Deception I'd say Nightwolf.

My favorite is Jade. I just really like her costume and she has good combos.

Ultimately my favorite is Rain. But in this game, noob-smoke and ermac. My best and favorites.
