the possibility of mk6 being a tag fighter?

posted03/21/2004 09:00 PM (UTC)by- opens up the possibilities for combos
- engine seems it could possibly handle it
- would increase replay value
- adds a new layer of depth
- there are enough characters in da alone to make it a tag game
- could have themes, like if you pick frost and sub, a little animation, like when u picked kaz and jin in ttt for example.
- take advantage of cube & xbox 4 pad ports, not to mention ps2 multitap.
- make it an entertaining party game
anyone else think its a good/crap idea? or have anymore points to add to the list above?

according to the fight night chat, the mk team doesnt like the tag mode idea..one of them said something like "we dont want it to turn into a wrestling match" or something like that.
persionally, i would have to agree with them. maybe an endurance feature like the previouse mk's had where after one person is beat, the next jumps onto the screen. if they added a tag mode, a lot of people would cry "they are out of ideas, they had to copy off of tekken" or somthing stupid like that.
sounds cool, but im more interest in online play.

I would like a tag type of match like in marvel vs capcom. It would be cool to combine u special moves and stuff and maake ur partner jump in for a hit and leave. I like that better then the tekkan way

I don't think a "Tag" feature would turn the game into a "wrestling match", per se. I see it as unlikely allies helping each other to beat a common enemy. But Deception could do it differently: "Freeze Tag"!
How does "Freeze Tag" work? Well, you have the 2-on-2 or 3-on-3, and all of the selected warriors appear on the stage at the very beginning of the fight. However, each player only controls ONE of them at a time (the first one they selected). The OTHER fighters not being currently controlled are frozen like ice or stone until the player's current fighter walks over to them and "freeze tags" them, at which time the current fighter becomes frozen and the unfrozen warrior now joins the fight.
However, while fighters are frozen on the stage, they can STILL TAKE DAMAGE from the enemy fighter's attacks, background stage obstacles, etc. But they will always remain frozen like statues no matter now many times they are hit. And if all of their health is gone, they crumble into ice and shreds and you have one less fighter on your tag team! So, the strategy here would be to fight the current opposing fighter and try to inflict damage to the forzen fighters whule trying to protect yourself and your frozen fighters. Because if all fo your frozen fighters are gone, then it'll be just you alone against the current opposing fighter and his frozen warriors that are still alive!
What does everyone else think?
