Rap would suck in Mortal Kombat. It is just talking. If you were right in front of me,I could be raping by just talking. Rap=Crap.

Something from fear factory, hatebreed, slipknot or killswitch would be good for this game.I'm sure their are so many other bands that would be cool but, those are my top picks.

How about Weird Al? "Angry White Boy Polka" would be a great theme. BTW, I was joking about Outkast, but it would be pretty funny if Midway decided to use them. smile

Although I like Cradle of Filth, I think the original version of Hallowed Be thy Name by Iron Maiden was a bit better. Dani Filth just couldn't carry the through with the original emotion.

Grim: Yeah, I was thinking either Monochromatic Stains or Final Resistance. Most of the Damage Done album could work for MK.

Reguarding rap: I'm sorry guys. No matter what genre of rap you're listening to, there is a deficit of melody. I'm not saying there is a complete absence of melody, I'm just saying that the little amount that is present(if any), is so surpressed that it hardly gives the song any structure.

Metal happens to be one of the best genres for MK because not only is it fully repleted with melody, but with emotion as well. After all, that's all what metal really is: complex rock which is emotionally charged. A large fraction of rap simply fuels off the issues of sex, money, and drugs, as does most mainstream music. That's what I love about true metal(not slipknot, and certainly not Limp Bizkit). There's no gimmick. It's all about the music, unless of course we're talking about black metal, but that's different(although still good).

I have no intentions of offending anyone, but in my opinion, I just don't think rap could communicate the emotion of MK. Modern mainstream rap is just way too superficial.

I'm personally not a fan of Cradle of Filth, well I am of there old stuff but, aside from the fact that Rammstein wouldn't be a good band to do a theme song for a game, I would have to say Fear Factory would personally be my next choice.

After Fear Factory I would say probably, Pantera or Danzig I would go with. I'm not a huge fan of Danzig but the song they did for the movie The Crow was an excellent song.

I think Fear Factory would be my number one choice though. They just have that dark feel to them.

Yeah, Temp. and Grimm, Iron Maiden and Pantera would be great. The downfall, Pantera broke up. Now Philip Anselmo is in Superjoint Ritual and Dime and Vinnie made DamagePlan. To Bibly, face it, rap isn't fit for MK. It isn't dark enough. I don't give a fuck how much money they make, I'm probably happier with what I do now than they do talking to the same beats over and over.

I know Pantera broke up, and it's a shame. And if Iron Maiden made a theme song for Mortal Kombat, make sure Bruce doesn't sing. smile

Yeah Grimm, Bruce shouldn't sing. Acctually, I just thought of another band: Helloween. I heard these guys in the 80's they were heavy and cool. Probably have good songs to fit MK's dark feel.

I agree that only metal can truly capture the dark, twisted, evil feel of MK. Rap just cannot bring forth a satanic verse fitting of a game as brutal and psychotic as Mortal Kombat. As for what band should do this, you need something with an incredible impacting sound.

I think that a Black Metal band would do this best, my personal favorites would be Dimmu Borgir, Venom, and Children of Bodom.

I know this much, if they do choose a band it does need to be of a much darker genre since this is supposed to be a much darker game so my suggestions would be Black Metal, Death Metal (most likely melodic...or brutal), and possibly Gothic Metal.

Death Metal is terrible. Death Metal is just as bad as rap. I mean, Cannibal Corpse is not music. They are just terrible. So is every other death metal band. None of it has a meaning.

But I think MK should have more of a heavy metal or industrial sound to it.
