So I was thinking about Mortal Kombat Deception, and how all 52 characters from every Mortal Kombat fighting game will be in Konquest mode. Then I started thinking to myself, could this be a launching pad for Mortal Kombat Trilogy 2?

Let's examine the facts:
-The game runs on a very similar system to MKDA
-The character graphics, though slightly updated, are essentially the same as MKDA.
-The playability is updated, but no more so than MK3 was over MK2 (in fact, probably less.)

Now, let's look at the character casts, taking new characters from Deception out of the equation, since we have no idea how many new characters there will be.:

if you combine MKDA's character cast with MKD's returning character cast you get a cast of the following characters.

01.Johnny Cage
02.Kano
03.Raiden
04.Liu Kang
05.Scorpion
06.Sub-Zero
07.Sonya Blade
08.Reptile
09.Shang Tsung
10.Kung Lao
11.Kitana
12.Jax
13.Mileena
14.Baraka
15.Smoke
16.Noob Saibot
17.Sindel
18.Cyrax
19.Sektor
20.Nightwolf
21.Kabal
22.Ermac
23.Tanya
24.Quan Chi
25.Bo'Rai Cho
26.Li Mei
27.Kenshi
28.Mavado
29.Nitara
30.Drahmin
31.Hsu Hao
32.Frost
33.Blaze
34.Mokap
35.Moloch
36.Sareena (MKTE)

this would only leave the following characters as not being integrated into the new fighting system:

01.Goro
02.Jade
03.Kintaro
04.Shao Kahn
05.Stryker
06.Sheeva
07.Motaro
08.Rain
09.Kai
10.Shinnok
11.Reiko
12.Jarek
13.Fujin
14.Khameleon
15.Chameleon
16.Meat (not really a character, but people will nag me if he's not included.)

Jade, Jarek, and Fujin are heavily rumored as MK Deception secret characters, due to their appearance in the prison stage. If this rumor was true, it would cut down the number of characters that midway had to integrate into the new fighting system to 13.

I'm not saying that there will be an MK Trilogy 2, but with all of these characters integrated into the fighting system, and with models being designed of all of the others for Konquest mode, it wouldn't surprise me if the Mortal Kombat game after MK Deception is a sequel to Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

With all of these characters plus the 8-12 new characters in Deception (since 8-12 tends to be the average number of new for an upgrade), we'd essentially have on our hands an MK Trilogy 2.

Now, what if they decided to base it on MK Deception, much like MK Trilogy was basically MK 3 with more characters? Well, all midway would have to do, would be take another year and add the 13-16 characters mentioned above to the new system.

Now, what about the adventure game characters, you ask? Well, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting to see Jataaka fighting Tremor in a future fighting game, but the cast of 10-15 adventure game characters being hidden in the game would add some of the mystique to a new MK Trilogy style game that wasn't present in MKT.

Once again, don't hold your breath for this. It's just a theory; Chances are it won't happen. And if it does, it won't be until the X-Box 2, and the Playstation 3 are out.

That's a pretty interesting idea though. It is very well possible that there could be an MK Trilogy II in the works. Also I think what's intriguing is that Ed said that in the future he would like a multatude of different mortal kombat games. Adventure games, fighters, possibly even 2d fighters. Im wondering if midway is considering putting more resources into those types of projects since MK seems to be the lifeline of Midway.

I already made a thread that is exactly like this. But anyway, the theory is sound but MKT2 would only include characters in MK4, MK5 and MK6.

So only MK4 characters (Kai, Fujin, Reiko, Shinnok and Jarek) need to be revamped.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy 2 would be awesome. It would be cool if it had Tag Team mode. Complete with Tag Team throws, Tag Team fatalitys and Tag Team taunts.

Online Tag Team would be pretty awesome. Now I think that another MKT would be fantastic, but I'd rather wait until after MK7 where we get more of the DK story(odds are at least). MKT told the story of Shao Kahn's attempt to conquer Earth, but with MK4-6 we don't have this type of single boss character that MKT2 could tell the story of. I mean we've had Shinnok, Quan and Shang, and the Dragon King, the only connection between these 3 storylines is really Quan Chi. Maybe MKT2 could tell the story of Quan's attempt to become a tyrant. Waiting until after MK7 could bring us the Mortal Kombat Legacy or something, or the story of the Dragon King's rebirth, reign, and fall. Just a thought...

Call me old fashoned, but I think Mortal Kombat should stay one on one. I don't think tag teams would enhance much, and the thought of a tag team sounds kind of foolish, not to mention the time it would take to make that many more fatalities.
