I don't know who did the soundtrack for MK:DA, but I thought it was really poor. I beilieve that the music is an important factor in a fighting game, it is responsible for the mood of the fight. And I believe Dan Forden was aware of this, because I think Mortal Kombat has always had awesome (best I've heared) music to back it up.
Not everyone can do music for a fighting game (this was prthisthingisdisabledent in MK:DA), but Dan Forden has a gift, and I HOPE that he does the music for MK: Deception. what about you?

Forden did the music for MK:DA. He's always done the music. It's never changed.

Agreed! The MKDA music was ok, but not at MK's best! It didn't capture the MK atmosphere at all like the music back in MK2. Hopefully, they'll work on that in MKD.

Honestly, in it's time, I liked MK1's music the most.
I'd love to see music on a somewhat more epic scale in MK, at least for the intro. Something like the music for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. When the horns sound at the very beginning of the intro, you know the music is gonna be sweet.
I hope they don't go for rock music again in any way. Don't ge me wrong, I like Slipknot, Mudvayne, Mushroomhead, etc, but having Adema do the theme was alright, but nothing great, and it kinda seemed odd in contrast to the moody stage music and asian theme the series has had.
What kind of music whould you guys like to see? I'd personally like a bit of everything. Some spastic rising orchestral scores (kinda almost like the Sephiroth battle at the end of FF7, or the previously mentioned LoK:SR) but better. I'd also like some more nature-ish sounding music. Deep and dreary, with forest noises and wind blowing if the stage setting is a forest for example.

I generally liked the music in Deadly Alliance, except the end credits theme, which was just the same four bars over and over forever.
Music in fighting games has to fit a delicate balance, in that it must be atmospheric but not distracting. I'm really hoping that with a new unplayable end boss, he'll get some kickass level music like Shao Kahn used to have.
I liked 1 and 2's music. I just dont want another band doing hte music, or rather a band with lyrics because it makes the game seem hokey and stupid. An EXCELENT example of a major artist doing GOOD game music was Trent Reznor doing the music (it was more like atmosphere then music) for Quake. It was awesome and I wouldnt mind him doing the atmospheric music for MK. Opinions?

MKDA's music wasnt all that bad IMO. But to me, MK2 had the most eerie and kick ass music. It sounded so mysterious and gloomy. I hope music like that returns in MKD.

Whoever does the music need to be fired!!!J/K but really, the music has really been crappy lately. The only good track in MKDA in my opinion was shang tsung's.I really miss the music from the good old days.Mortal kombat 1 had the best music. The music that inspired fear and dread. The music in DA was too light and soft. You almost didn't care if you died in battle, because the music gave you no emotion.

yes it does. The music in that game was the best of any MK so far. I think mk3's vibe was really cool. I liked the whole urban feel and the music went reall great with it too. MK6 needs more fast paced music to go with the fighting, definately. The MKDA music was not good IMO.

the music in mkda just didn't fit well.... the music has been getting progessivly worse since mk3... got a lil worse in 4... and then finlaly compelltely worse in 5.... they need to do music like in mk1 and mk2... loved the music from both of those.... fit the atmoshere perfectly.... and stood out just enough but didn't really stand out enough to be annoying though either... was perfect.... need that back....

Really?
I think fighting is an important factor in a fighting game.
Anyways,I thought the music was fine.
O_o
Poor music? I bang my head every time the Lung Hai Temple stage comes up. It's catchy as hell.
And the Lin Kuei Arctic base? I'd love some guitar tabs for that. Those are some killer riffs.
But all in all, MKII had the best music IMO. MKI's music was great, 3 was good too (esp. the Graveyard and Temple). I thought most of MK4's music was kinda lackluster, the notable exception being the rhythmic end credits music.
MK:DA has the best soundtrack, just under MKII, methinks.

I think they should tone down on the oriental music a little. It seems like with every game the music is getting more and more oriental. I know it adds to the mystic, but seriously, too oriental isn't nice.
I agree with Queve. MK3's music was the best of all! It was very...umm....'Americanized'. I wonder if it had anything to do with the fact that most of the backgrounds in MK3 / UMK3 were set in New York.
The lava shrine arena in MKDA had the best music of all the arenas!

They should make it techno or something, just like the techno music in the movies' fight scenes. The music when Liu Kang fought Reptile was nasty.

Whoever suggested Trent Reznor for doing MK's stage music: Perfect idea. I'd bet money that if the MK team showed him the new levels and what not, that he'd come up with the perfect music for them. Good call man!
Mk3 music was simply amazing.
The gothic/techno feel was superb. It actually made you feel and live the game.
MKDAs music was not that bad IMO, it was terrible when compared to the last ones, but not that bad. The sad thing is...it made fights a little boring. No hype.

That was me =) thanks for the compliment, i really think trent reznor would do wonderful music. As i said before just look at Quake 1. Fantastic stuff. It would really give a really good edge to the game, and its something people would notice, hell I'd buy the soundtrack CD for the game if Reznor did the music.
I understand that they probablly already have music being made already but would it in theory be really ahrd to contact Mr. Reznor and see if he might be interested in the work? I think I'll make a post about that actually

maybe they could modernize the music from MK1 MKII and MK3. Make it better quality or re-do the same song
