Things I want
- Sub-Zero, Noob Saibot, Daegon and Taven to return.
- Individual fatalities, 2 per character
- Bios
- Remaining MKA bios unlockable in the krypt.
- Konquest mode (preferably MKA style, but would settle for MKD style)
- MKDA/MKD style endings
- Expand on past story lines like in MKDA/MKD konquest mode)
- Secret characters

Things I don't want
- KAF
- Mini games
- Aerial kombat

Not being rude here, but there are two problems with what you want to make a return in the next game:

1.

Give up on the fact that Midway should continue making bios for all the characters for Armageddon seeing how they've already stated that they were going to stop since Ashrah was the very last one to have a bio created.

And 2.

It's going to be kind of hard to expand the past story lines from MKDA/D if Midway also have stated that they were going to go from scratch and redue everything... so technically everything that has happened, will have a good chance in not existing in this next game.

Though the fact that all the things that you DON'T want to make a comeback are all the things on my list that I DON'T want to make a comeback either.

So I'll give you credit for that, but those two things are just a bit confusing since it won't happen. And why have something on your list that won't happen? Even though I'm sure that all of our lists have things that will not happen, but these two things have been stated that will not happen as life moves on.

1, this is a topic about what we want, not necessarily what is realistic. 2, in an interview I read with Boon it is said that they weren't necessarily done with the bios yet, just that it had to take a backseat while they were developing MK8. I believe his words were to be patient.

And 2.

I don't think starting from scratch means what you think it means. I took it to mean that the whole game play mechanics were going to be created from the bottom up and that most things in MK8 were going to be new, not necessarily that it was going to be a whole new MK story with completely different characters.

Right after the release of Armageddon, Boon said that Armageddon was the end of the current era of MK. All but a few characters are going to be scrapped (Boon mentioned Sub-Zero & Scorpion as ones that wont).

^^ well one he didn't actually say that Scorpion & Sub-Zero wont be scrapped, just that he can't imagine that they won't be back. I have the magazine right here, his exact words were:

"I can't imagine that we'll come back [in the next generation] and not have a Sub-Zero or Scorpion, but my feeling is that I would like to introduce as much newness as is possible."

But I think the fact that they are thinking of returning some older characters means that it isn't going to be a completely different Mortal Kombat in terms of story. I could see MK8 having distant ties to the MK1-7 games.

MK8 isn't a reboot, just a relaunch, much like how MK:DA was a relaunched game with a new fighting engine after MK4. MK8 will be a new fighting engine and several new characters, but I doubt it's starting all over from scratch. That would suck. Who would ever do that? (Spider-man, I'm looking at you...)

That being said, here are some things I'd like:
1. GOOD characters that were never quite developed to return, such as Sareena, Ashrah, and Kenshi.

2. Naturally, stellar graphics. From what I've seen of Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur IV, those games are GORGEOUS... Mortal Kombat was once the best looking fighter ever made... let's see it reclaim that throne.

3. I liked MK:A's one-style, one-weapon concept. It greatly reduced the learning curve for nearly every character, but the next game needs to really expand and nuance each fighter's styles.

4. Interactive, character-specific fatalies. I had no problem with KAF, except that nearly all of them were generic. If each character did something pertaining to their powers or personality, I would have adored them.

5. BIOS - Yes, I know Armageddon cancelled them and all we got as 17 measy bios. That CAN'T happen again. While some would say a game thrives on gameplay, not story, and they would be right, I still say story is a vital ingredient in making characters and games that are MEANINGFUL and memorable. I think Virtua Fighter is a great fighting game, but it's almost complete lack of story is such a turn off, despite its depth, that I'd gladly play Mortal Kombat over it, if nothing more than to find out if Scorpion's dead again, if Quan Chi is still causing mischief, if Shao Kahn's leader of Outworld once more, etc. The story and characters of the MK universe are GREAT compared to nearly all other fighting games, and that needs to stay, and even improve.

6. Better endings - MK:A's endings were rather abysmal. They were poorly conceived (the "all female fighting force" one for Kitana I think takes the cake) and their execution was weak. Compared to the lush FMVs of MK4/Gold or the vibrant renders of MK:DA and MK:D, MK:A's were just so utterly non-important, it's staggering. Even if 99% of them will likely be non-canonical, they're just not very good.

7. A good fighting engine - This one is so incredibly vague, I don't know where to start. Luckily, I don't have to develop the engine, but basically something that's easily to pick up but difficult to master. I could reference Soul Calibur as a game that lets you do alright with knowing the basics (kick, vertical attack, horizontal attack) but has enough depth that no newbie would ever best a vet. MK's dial-a-combos are a tad repetative, unstrategic, and basically render matches outcomes to whoever has the best memory (A A B A up+A style change B Y B B A!). I'm all for a fast and frentic game, but a tad more emphasis on a defensive game would be nice, studying frames, high and low attacks, blocking, reversals, wake-up games, ground control, side-steps, and 50/50 offensive/defensive gameplay.

8. Sub-Zero. I know he's a shoe-in, but the game could have a full roster of retarded handicapped monkeys as long as Sub-Zero was a selectable character. Pure and simple, Sub-Zero is the man. He's just so... cool *insert audience groaning.*

Anyway, I'm sure I'll come up with better ideas later.

What I Do want in MK8 ?

First of all, I wish it was a Fightning game at full speed, Where only the strongest survives!

Alotta Fatalitys for every characters ( DECEPTION STYLE!)
Good Musics ( As usual)
An entertaining Opening Scene ( Like we all love them grin)
Alotta Unlockable ( Like in deception)
Long game ( Then again, Like in deception)
Long combos ( Like in deception XD!!!! )
Insane fightning ( Like in MK 3! but even twice the speed if possible)
The Return Of Babylity - Brutality - Friendship
Active Enviroments ( Like in Deception and Armageddon and many others)
Sub-Zero And Reptile FOR SURE ( Like in many MK Games as usual)
An Adventure mode ( Deception's adventure mode simply amazed me, we we're able to see how all the MK characters lived troughtout the time and years, Too good)
