There's really not a lot of buzz here compared to MKAs release.
Perhaps it has to do with the fact that MKA's release date was mistaken and it was actually the shipping date. This place was angry.
This launch is the total opposite, with the game being in stores way early.
Street dates don't work - let's just have shipping dates and call it a day.
But anyway, I'm a little surprised that there is so little hype here.

I blame the site. They haven't exactly been on the ball with posting news on time, they haven't had any exclusives except Fight Night, which should have been held AFTER the game came out so we could ask better questions, and they let too many trolls roam free and spread negativity and hate for the MK franchise by posting the exact same whiny complaint again and again every day and getting away with it.

I don't know...fight chats after a game's release is pointless. What else is there to know about a game, after you've played it hours for yourself. But I agree with the theory, that the game doesnt seeem to be too hpyed up in MKO. I think Midway forums has taken it's spot.

To ask why they did certain things, obviously. Hearing them say if they're going to patch that ground pound infinite or why Raiden's bio says he's Kahn's brother is a lot more important than asking "Will the game have _____?" when we're going to find out a few days later when the game is on the shelf ANYWAY, duh.

I disagree. Asking about bios is less interesting to me, especially since the ones in mk vs dc are non-canon, so they have very little influece on future mk stories. Furthermore, Midway has already responded to what they would do if there were infinites in the game.
Alot of ppl complained about fight night chats being pointless once a game has been released and i think that's why they released it before the game hit stores. There's very little to discuss about a game when you already know everything about it.

And what good did THIS Fight Night do, in comparison?
We learned a bunch of stuff we already knew, a few things we'd have found out for ourselves like 4 days later, and Carlos Pesina said "Aquaman" a lot. Genius. Pure f*cking genius.
No. The whole point of an interview at this late stage of the game SHOULD be to ask WHYs, after we've had our hands on the product.

We learned more about how the throw mechanic worked. The reasoning for including and excluding certain characters. The role of Quan Chi in the game. A more detailed analysis of how the combo system worked. How deep the practice mode is....these are things I can recall from memory.
Either way, fight night chats will be dissappointing and ppl will always complain about it. I just think it's less dissapointing having it before the game is out. I know you disagree, but it's just a matter of personal opinion.
Do you know what would even make sense though? Having fight night way before the game is even close to being released (perhaps 4 months). That way alot of the things being discussed would feel like new information.

Well this is the controversial game in the series. MKA promised alot of what the fans wanted (or at least thought they wanted).
MKA promised:
-Every character in one game
-Kreate A Fighter
-Motor Kombat (bejaysus...)
-An deep Konquest adventure
-Plus all the other kontent that we were all looking forward to.
MKvsDC promised:
-DC characters (something that has caused a definite rift)
-No additional content bar downloadable content (which doesn't like it's going t be things)
- A Teen Rating, like it or not Fatalities are a big part of MK, it wouldn't have been half as successful as it was without them.
So it's really not surprising that this game isn't recieving the hype the last game got.

While I agree having Fight Night prior to the game's release was a bad idea, but I'm going to have to disagree on the other two points.
The site has been late on a few news updates, but...
A) They were incredibly punctual with their updates from April to September. As a matter of fact, there were only two news updates I can recall they were late on, and both of those were in late October/early November, and by that time, everyone who would have been interested in the game would have had enough information to make their final purchasing decision long before now. Hell, the really disappointed fans made their buying decision in April.
B) The updates they were late on weren't all that significant. They were a few days late on a Fatality Friday, but isn't it common knowledge among fans that IGN was posting fatalities weekly? I don't see how this would have hurt hype.
As for the trolling... well, just how much trolling there was exactly is a point of contention. I mean, all the anti-MKvDC posts were quarantined in one sticky thread (which was a mistake, if you ask me; site traffic wasn't high enough to justify that), and if you consider any rant post outside that thread trolling, then yes, I guess there was quite a bit of trolling.
But how would that hurt hype? Wouldn't that stir the fire of the fans who were anticipating the game?
I was really excited about MK8 back in April, but this game isn't MK8, IMO. Don't get me wrong: I think it looks really good. I'm incredibly interested to see how the gameplay has turned out, and until I found out a very recent spoiler about Raiden, I was interested in the story as well. But I'm not excited. I don't think I'm alone in this mindset, and that's probably why the hype is so low.

How would a group of people telling everybody "don't buy this game, it's going to suck, don't buy MK games at all anymore because Midway sucks and all the games suck and I hope they go out of business" hurt the hype?
Gee, I wonder.

I guess it just depends on the recipient. If someone is already a fan, open-minded to DC, and is happy with the released footage, than I don't think it would matter what anyone else said. I would probably just get annoyed and defend the game.
But if the recipient isn't a fan, than it's already unlikely they'd be on this forum in the first place. They'd most likely be at Gamefaqs, IGN, etc. But if they were here, they'd read the positive and the negative. I think we can both agree that the optimists for MKvDC have been overall more constructive in their posting, so they'd probably take that camp more seriously.
