You are correct in all that you have said, as I have said the same thing in a few other threads. I am also an old school player and I started playng fighters religiously back in 1991. There have always been cheap tactics and infinites in almost every popular fighting game and the reason that this will never change is that there will always be different fighting characters to use and with those different characters there will be some overlooked, overpowering move. We as old school players learned how to be patient and find the loopholes in those "cheap characters". Some of our younger buddies online have not yet figured this out yet but in time they will.

Wow! This is a thread just waiting to be flamed, yet ... I hate the people in the MK chat rooms while I'm playing online; "You grabbed me 5X, you did the same move 50X". Well um... Shouldn't you have seen them comming then? There are some cheeseballs out there that piss me off. But, That's why you master a cheeseball, just for people like them. I have mastered Nightwolf whom I can usually take out the cheesiest of cheese. I don't cry, I get even.

I've been shoving quarters into MK since '91, so i'm used to losing against good players, and cheap ones.
Case in point: Whjen 99.9% of dairou players use the backslam/3 hit weapon combo cheese tactic, I learn it within 1 fight and beat the shit out of them...then the dairou player either drops(if he's player 2) or picks easy Death Trap levels like the Dead Pool and the Falling Cliffs and does nothing but push you towards death traps. Its easy to pick up on. Yeah, people play cheap, and it pisses me off bad. I'd much rather lose to someone with skill rather than to lose to some idiot who memorized 3 button combinations.
Its an unbalanced fighting game...you have characters who have annoying or cheesy advantages, and you have characters who can string infinite combos(Noob Smoke). Very few fighting games are actually 100% balanced. You just learn how to fight against the characters you can't beat.

Second of all, once again, you don't know me, so don't talk shit until you do. I do agree with you on a few thigns, but the one of point being that MK3 was the best of them all.
First of all, I AM an old school gamer. I used to play MK3 on both SNES and Genesis XBAND, goddammit. That was the FIRST EVER interactive gaming system, where you could play games against other people online. I've also spent literally hundreds of dollars on arcades. On xbox live I have like 88 wins and 240 losses, and 8 disconnects cause they dont wanna flaw their record. I played with a buddy on samari shodown in the 90s and lost 50 matches, I will lose matches cause most of my friends will quit if they dont win almost every time. I know what losing is and if your better than me, kick my A$$. It's all fun. I love to just play. In a war, will you die not to be cheap?? I wont. I will do what it takes to win. You seem to be fighting an UNWINABLE battle trying to explain how using Bo Rai Cho takes skill. It takes 7 button presses.
F+3, Throw, 4 hit combo. 65% damage.
Repeat a second time, win the round.
Repeat 2 more times, win the game.
Frankly, you suck. At least I can and do play with other characters, but youve openly admitted you only play with Bo Rai Cho. Thats because you have no skill. You just have 7 buttons. Good for you, keep thinking youve got talent.
And the REASON I learned how to play as Noob-Smoke is because of little pricks like you, who discover how to do an unblockable combo REPEATEDLY, and actually win.
I'm sure your going to come up with the argument "Well, if your so good, youd find a way to beat it!". Um.. no. Bo Rai Cho is an openly BROKEn character... as discovered by ALL of the good, skilled, veteran players on this board.
Truth be told, there takes zero skill to play as Bo Rai Cho. None, whatsoever. And no matter HOW good a person is, there IS no way around his cheese. Its virtually, the perfect cheese. But its honor-less. It takes no skill. Any idiot 12 year old can do it. It lacks fighting psychology, guesswork, or even mixing it up, 50/50. It doesnt even require that. You press the same combo buttons over and over again, and the wins come pouring in.
Simple as that.

The bottom line is:
People who use the same character over and over because they've discovered cheap, unbreakable, infinite combos suck. They have no skill, and rely on the same tactic over and over. When you beat them, they whine, they bitch, they drop, they go into the chat and say that you cheated. 90% of the time when I beat a cheeser, they drop if they are player 2. If they are player one, they pick the Nexus, the Falling Cliffs, the Deadpool, or Kuatan Palace for easy ring outs, because if their cheese tactics aren't working, then they'll just rely on ring outs.
When I play against cheesers I make it a point to rematch them. If I lose a second time, I just leave. It is not fun in any way whatsoever to play some random kid who learned one combo with one character, and uses that same character over and over and over. Those types of players are too worried about looking big and bad with a record to worry about learning other characters.
I have a shitload of wins and a lot of losses on my record...I don't care either way cuz its a fucking game. When people play cheap, I leave. When people play well and we have great fights, I stay on and play even if i'm losing, because i'm having fun. If I had voice chat i'd be more than happy to compliment them on their skill. The point of the game is to have fun. People have every right to complain...even those who bitch about people who bitch. Its a simple fact of human existence.
We who 'complain' about those players that just do the same shit over and over do so because we don't want to play against someone who wins by doing the same crap over and over...it isn't fun. We would rather lose against people who know how to play the game and pick other characters, and offer up good fights. Big...BIG difference.

I have been playing Mortal Kombat in the Arcades and each game that has followed since 1991 and that has absolutely nothing to do with the Online experience for me right now. I like MK online, and to see people who have really learned their skill is great. I learn off of you guys like its supposed to be in my opinion. Take my good friend Shang H up there. I have played him more times than anyone and he can dish out a beating, and so can I. I have learned a lot by just taking that beating and then I'd come back and beat him. Not by much, but just a little.
Granted, it isn't fun to lose. No one wants that.
I think what the arcades have been about for me anyway, is learning your Mortal Kombat Kraft. I have seen complaints of people throwing too much, or people blocking too much....there are ways around it, you just have to find them. You have to understand that there is always going to be someone better. Especially in Mortal Kombat. So why not learn from them?
Like Shang H said, Dairou is cheese, but there are ways around it. If a person on the Net insists on doing one or three moves, all the time, then he is in for a rude awakening because his pattern is that of a novice and he will fail and lose. Its just finding their weaknesses, thats the fun part.
What really gets on my nerves are people that use Codebreakers or Gamesharks or whatever. Thats not cool. Also, people who worry about their win loss record get on my nerves as well. If you are the best then good, but don't make it your primary concern. Just play, have fun and learn.

65% where u getting that from, the throw f+3 is 30 %.... and no i do not only use that, only to people who pick N/s and dariou, its called mk2 style with pokes 4, 4, 4 side step 4, 2 stuff like that, throw in some pukes make them waste there breakers, than use sumo after the breakers are gone. BRC is so fast in his weapn stance, u dont need to use f+3 hell just sidestep that and u can counter it.

exactly, brc is beatable, so is dariou,,, BUT N/s infinite, hmmm i hav never ever used BRC puke infinite, only infinite i hav ever used in mk, was kung lao juggle into the conrner one, but the timeing on that was skillful. i dont bitch when people use BRC wanna no why cause hes beatable...and the funny part is , if u guys had to pay 50 cents for each game u played like the old days, the only characters that would be played are n/s, brc, jade and dariou.... so simple, when u challange me , right to brc, play beat me fine, lose drop ...proved only one thing, u cant beat brc.

I agree that playing against people who are using cheap tactics is very annoying.
The problem is that people confuse "cheese, cheap and cheat" with "annoying" .
So for some :
You cheat if you do the same moves over and over. You're cheap if you throw more than x times,etc.
and for others
You're cheap if you use a broken character and use his "unbeatable" combo everytime against everyone... because even if you're the best MKD player ever, there will be no way to stop it.
If only we could all agree that #2 is the right definition of cheese,cheap and cheat and that #1 is the definition of "annoying and stupid" ... it would be nice
On a side note : What is wrong if people use the same character? It's not your business who the hell they pick! I personally alternate between Ermac and Kira and I don't understand those who are saying that we should all know 5 or 6 characters. Why? Learn 6 if you want, I don't care, but don't cry if I stick with 2.

From the things you say you do, you don't have any. First things first, SKILLED, old school players all have different opinions. For example: a guy named REPSTYLE believes that it’s disrespectful to him if someone continues to pick the same character. He won’t even play you for a third game if you continue picking the same character. IN FACT, when he plays the game, he actually RANDOM SELECTS, and thinks it’s disrespectful if his opponent DOESNT do the same. You know what? I AGREE WITH HIM. Another guy named MKL, or TOMBRADY doesn't like to play people a second time if all they do is BITCH after he handed them their ass. You know what? I AGREE WITH HIM TOO. Truth of the matter is, whether you like to admit it or not, you Bo Rai Cho fucker, is that there are certain ways to play in order to gain other peoples RESPECT, and there are certain ways to play in order to GET THE WIN, but have everyone you play hate your guts. Now, I have stated this before in the past, I'm not a bad player. I LOVED playing guys like REPSTYLE and MKL, among others, but truth be told? I NEVER went to the SAME character over and over again. EVEN THOUGH I DO know how to pull off the Noob-Smoke infinites, and the Shujinko infinites, I NEVER DID THEM. You know why? Because it’s fucking SHAMEFUL. Just like you said that you'll run right to Bo Rai Cho if someone picks Noob-Smoke? Frankly, I do the same shit to people who pick Bo Rai Cho. Now, here's the difference. I can beat the shit out of damn near ANYONE with my Noob-Smoke. WITHOUT USING HIS INFINATE. He just HAPPENS to be a character I'm EXCEPTIONALLY good with, who HAPPENS to have an infinite combo. Bo Rai Cho on the other hand, here's how he goes. I never saw ONE motherfucker pick him online.... UNTIL MKL/TOMBRADY posted a CHEAP ass, broken-infinite combo with Bo Rai Cho. THEN, holy SHIT, the world's collapsing, because guess what? NOW, every son of a bitch I PLAY uses Bo Rai Cho!! All the time, every game, every round, every MATCH, it’s Bo Rai Cho. So I hit a point where I got pissed off enough, and I said fuck it, if everyone’s going to RUN to Bo Rai Cho, and try to cheese the wins out of me, fine, then I'm going to ABANDON all gaming etiquette, and say FUCK it; your going to get hit with as Noob-Smoke infinite combo the fucking SECOND I see you hit "F+3... Throw". I’m going to smoke-cloud your ass, walk you into a corner, and do the SAME TWO MOVES on YOU that you just TRIED to pull off on me. Case closed. Fact is, EVEN highly skilled players such as RESTYLE, MKL, me, DanaDBab, and a few others have EXTREME trouble beating a Bo Rai Cho. Want to know why? BECAUSE HE IS BROKEN. It’s that simple. So if I'm blocking LOW, I get hit with the high hit. IF IM BLOCKING HIGH< the SECOND the move is over, you BRC sons of bitches walk up and THROW. NOW, I understand that if it’s in the game, use it. But here’s the problem. It’s a WELL DOCUMENTED FACT that this game had design problems. There are GLITCHES (BRC, F+3, Throw) where it is 100% UNBLOCKABLE. The THROW from BRC after his F+3 is GUARANTEED, it’s a FREE HIT. 100% FREE HIT, unavoidable. THEREFORE, because of TECHNICALITIES, it is NOT an "INFINATE" combo. HOWEVER RIGHT AFTER Bo Rai Cho's THROW, he has FOUR hit combo IMMEDIATELY after the throw that is ALSO a glitch, where the first hit of that combo is ALSO GUARANTEED!! So BASICALLY, here’s how it goes... Bo Rai Cho (Weapon Stance) F+3, Throw, 4 Hit Combo - 65% IT’S A GUARANTEED COMBO!! And here’s the best part! Here’s what some of you cheesy motherfuckers online do! (I’ve had this done to me, so I'm 100% positive you can do it) F+3, Throw... (33%) F+3, Throw, 4 Hit Combo (65%) NOW, for those of you who have trouble adding, 33+65 = 98% damage. Now, try to come up with your bullshit excuses about how that’s a NORMAL character, when EVERYTHING I LISTED ABOVE is glitched out, and broken. What the fuck, I'm supposed to beat you with my WHOLE 2% energy? Yeah, right, until you do your bullshit F+3 again. Now go ahead, try to justify how Bo Rai Cho is an 'honorable' character to play with. And then tell me how he’s fair, and that its a sidestep away, or a "50/50 mix-up" game. Bullshit. But go on anyways; try to justify picking him repeatedly.

first off, i dont do the 4 hit combo after the throw, so my combo is 30 %. 2nd for the 100000000000000 time, u can break any hits after the throw. 3rd how is using f+3 to counter a combo cheap??? but wait, d+4 than the over head with noob is fair?? or throw , teleport, stars, drop kick??? your shitty smoke is just as broken... and when the fuck does it say u hav to random select....so go back to ya fucking super nes , genesis crap, should be embrassed u even played mk on that.... every character has it flaws in the game... just cause u hav the most trouble with BRC, and i dont no how u guys play on PS2 but i hav over 2300 matches, and i hav never ever seen anybody go f+3, throw, 2,4,4,u+3 on xbox yet. most on xbox just try the asrah 50/50 rush down, and the ermac 3 hit combo, than throw...so u must hav alot more bs cheaters on ps2.

Frankly, with just over 2300+ matches MYSELF, you'd be AMAZED at the cheap bullshit that you find on the PS2.
Just because you havent seen it, doesn't mean people don't do it. Get onto PS2 Online, try to play a few people who use BRC. Then talk to me, and watch. That combo I listed ABOVE is exactly what happens. Basically, 98%. I don't have problems playing against BRC. EVERYONE has problems playing against BRC. He is a bullshit character, plain and simple. There's nothing fair about him.

A favorite combo of mine to use is this.
Smoke:
1, 2, 4, CS, 1... Throw . . . F, F+3, . . . U+4, U+4, Dark Assassin, 1, 2, 4, CS, 1
Thats basically going to take down your ENTIRE energy bar for that round. And trust me, I have plenty more. People are going to whine and argue "Oh, but if they sidestep..." etc, etc.
I said thats what I use. If you combine that with game psychology, it usually hits 90% of the time, and takes your entire bar of energy.
And thats just one of the MANY combos that I do.
