Okay, before you post anything here make sure you're not so angry that you'll say something that would start a flame war. And using that word right off the bat can get you into one. Basically, check your temperment before you sign in next time cause that shit won't fly here.

Having a PS2, I know that playing someone that has a high ping rate will lessen the chances of the game lagging on you, but it will still happen. It may be the same for XBox live as well.

Since this is the first time you've played MKD online, I'll tell you this. You're just gonna have to grit your teeth get used to it and not let it piss you off. People quit all the time online and nothing can be done about it. Most quit cause they're frustrated themselves on how the match is going and even some quit cause for some reason they have to do something and can't continue.
Some people unplug too, but from my experience the connection fails at times and even freezes requireing you to turn off the system or restart. But in any rate if you're gonna proceed to play online, you're gonna have to get used to it happening and deal with it. And if you see someone that you know quits, just don't play him/her. Simple as that mate.
And comin here to bitch, moan, piss, cry and complain about it isn't going to do anything but let some people know that to piss you off for shits and giggles, all they have to do is quit and wait to see what you post here about it. Just play the game and accept what comes. Hell... if people quit, that doesn't mean that you lost does it? That disconnect goes on their record.
Don't let the game or anyone else online get to you. But again, check your emotions before you post anything here!

It's funny how ridiculous people can really be. You had a bad time playing a game, so you go bitch about it on an online forum. What a way to deal with your problems. On topic.... it gets me upset as well. But beware of who you challenge. I never challenge or accept challenges from people with ridicuoulsy good records. Because most of the time they're cheap... and they pull the plug right when you beat em. It's happend plenty of times with me... so I realized not to challenge those so-called "better" players. And also I'd rather play against someone at the same skill level.
And on a side note... please never use the word "n00b". It just sounds... so... dumb. Especially when people replace the o's with 0's.

I've had people disconnecting, quitting, playing EXACTLY the same combo over and over (annoying as hell, especially in weapon stance), using special moves over and over. It does get a bit pathetic some of the time but I've also had quite a few good matches.

Is that Hall of Fame. Where you can see the best players in the world playing online ??? or is it just Europen ?
