Looking back at MK1, the characters were remarkably basic, simple, and appealing, even if Sub-Zero and Scorpion were only mere color swaps. Still, the characters have changed quite a bit since those 16-bit days. Sub-Zero is hardly recognizable. Scorpion is becoming more SPAWN-ish every new game. Shang Tsung, well, his hair just won't stay the same length. Kitana now is more of a Harem girl than a she-ninja. And Jax... don't even get me started with the whole gangster thing. Ugh. But, there have been some good designs, too. But... what do you Prefer? Original, simple, and classic? or New, elaborate, and retro? Fatality.

I love the new designs actually. The new designs just have so much more detail and just aren't so plain or anything. I mean I know it's 3D and all but i'm just saying.

So yeah, I like the new models better than the old. Good stuff.

you got to realize too that these characters have history behind them... they're not the same characters they were back in the early 90s.
Kitana... is a princess... no longer an assassin. That title is kept alive by Mileena... who, as u can tell, represents that very well. It's just the evolution of the character that changes... but the hint of classic is still there :)

Yeah, like Sub-Zero becoming Grand Master of the Lin Kuei. His new costume represents his new authority. However, I do think his MK:DA costume was the coolest ever.

Of all the characters, scorpion is easily the only one who has had the fewer changes, and while some people like to say its a good thing, its actually what takes point out of his character.

The basic DESIGN is the same with Scorpion, but they've just added onto him, rather than reimage him, as they've done to Sub-Zero, many times (Unmasked version and new Deception versions being key examples) and Smoke (Human/Robot). Really, many of the characters have not changed at all, but rather have simply added flourish to their basic design. Now, if Sonya's default suddenly had her with dyed red hair cut super-short or Johnny Cage grew a goatee and took of those damn shades, that would be reimaginging and CHANGING the characters. Fatality.

Actually, you can see major changes in Sonya and Cage!

Look at Sonya from Mk1....not look at her in Mk3....not look again in Mk4......and for a last time, look at her in Mkda.........

See? The cloth, hair, hat, gun, etc. Thats what makes her look fresh and young.

But with Scorpion, its just the same suit, with just a few additions such as swords or details. No more.

Raiden or Rayden, and the cape didn't fly with me.

And he looked old. And on top of that he didn't have his torpedo move I it didn't matter because that wasn't the Raiden I knew.

The raiden that was on the side of the MKII arcade game is Raiden I know. He look untouchable, mysterious, and when he raised his hand in the air after a win and the ligtning came down, you just knew he was bad. His latest characteristics haven't given him that effect and I miss it a lot because he was one of my favorites right along with Baraka.

The point was to make him look different then the other Ninja's party-pooper

Garlador Wrote:Scorpion is becoming more SPAWN-ish every new game...

You are the first person I've ever met that didn't approve Scorpion's new looks. Party-Pooper

Garlador Wrote:Shang Tsung, well, his hair just won't stay the same length....

Shang always had long hair, what are you talking about. The only thing that keeps chaning Shang Tsung his clothes. Party-Pooper.

Kitana now is more of a Harem girl than a she-ninja.....

What the hell his "Harem". If you are talking about "Harlem", I'm from NY myself, so tell me what is your definition of Harlem? Party-Pooper.

And Jax... don't even get me started with the whole gangster thing. Ugh......

What gangsta thing? Jax is a sodier, but when he's off duty he gets to wear whatever the fuck he wants to wear. Just because he wears something that a Black person would wear he's a gangsta? Get the fuck out of here with that Bull Shit Party-Pooper.

Man Bitches like this guy pisses me off.

Wow. Someone's pissed. It's all in good fun, but I'm making a point.

Sub-Zero being complete different ISN'T a bad thing. I didn't say that it was.

Who says I disapprove of Scorpion's new design? He's absolutely bad-@$$. Being more SPAWN-like is a plus in my book.

Shang had short hair in MKII.

Yeah, Kitana looks like a belly-dancer now (Mileena more so), rather than the sleek ninja she used to be. Yeah, I know she's a princess and everything, but I miss her gritty assassin outfit.

I didn't diss Jax's alternate outfit... but I should have. He's a soldier, not a pimp or a rapper. I have no racism towards blacks, and I don't mean to stereotype his clothing preference as "gangsta black", but... c'mon, lighten up. He's a friggin' video game character!

If you're going to argue your point, next time use a bit more tact, rather than direct assaults on my view-points. That's being a Party Pooper. Fatality. furious
