Gray chests are the good ones in my game... which game do you have? The gray ones have all the special items... the others just carry coins.

In my version, only the ones with gold trim on the top carry things that aren't koins.
the gold rimmed ones carry anything but coins i believe, from concept art, to alt outfits,characters,alt bios,etc.

The Key chests are Grey and Gold, the Koin chests are Brown and Silver.
However I would still classify the good chests as Gold ones.

in my game blue chests have koins, yellow have arenas and characters. never seen gray chests. EVER

I just got Shujinko's Hara Kiri.
It is a monthly spawn. Meaning the day and time are not fixed. The first time I saw it, it was Thursday at 5am, but I was medding and missed it. The next time I saw it was Monday at 1pm about 3 or 4 weeks later. I got it that time.
If anyone wants to know where, check Earthrealm A-8 in the cave near Kenshi.

It happens on the first of the month at 12:00 PM. Only last for about fifteen seconds. H5 to the right of the back row of trees by the waterfall.
