Actually getting the facts is a refreshing look at it. I am holding judgment until we get more on the game.

You've got a decent premise with this thread, and I'm going to give you a few "Well-constructed" sentances to tell you just why I'm leaning towards a healthy dose of "No".

First and foremost, looking at the last two titles, incomplete and disappointing as they were, ( Glitchy fighting mechanics...incomplete profiles for MKA, anyone? I'm actually a big fan of MKDA...the select few that there are, anyway.) I was willing to wait and see what they had in store for us with this latest installment. Now I can sit here and give you one of those long-drawn out posts about how flawed the last two fighting systems were, but that just completely nullifies the billions of threads out there to save me the trouble.

So, being the optimist that I am, I decided to wait and see. After seeing the trailer for the MK/DC crossover...I'm not impressed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that this game will have horrible gameplay or the copious amounts of blood that have made the franchise as big as it is today. I do feel that this new direction they're taking violates the basic principles of what made us all love MK in the first place, but that's just me. Graphically...well, just no. I understand it's still early, so I'm waiting for them to step it up in that department. Gameplay-wise...it's still looking like a more up-close and personal verson of last-gen's gameplay. (Over the top, stiff/blocky movements? It's still early...so, so early...)

Principally, I'm just having a hard time envisioning myself playing with the likes of Batman and the rest of the major DC lineup. I'm trying to tell myself with the whole "Realm" factor that it's quite plausible to the storyline. All fine and dandy, except for one thing...what if I don't WANT to envision that happening? If I've got to shell out MY hard earned money for what I feel will be another half-done, disappointing title, then I'm sorry...just not interested. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Congrats, Midway, I learned my lesson with MKD and MKA. As a paying customer first and foremost, I've got the right to voice my opinion about a product that I helped make famous in the first place. I can even appreciate all the hard work that the talented crew at Midway have been putting into this, but I just don't find this route acceptable.

You know, I'd like to play Devil's advocate on this...

If they continue the storyline from Armageddon, it can be explained that the majority oof the regular characters, Liu Kang, Johnny, Sonya, Jax Scorp, Sub Shao Kahn and Shinnok, eyc. got sucked into the DC universe when Blaze was destroyed, allowing for the "throw away" characters to be killed off in the MK universe...Sort of like heroes reborn from Marvel..Anyway, it sets up the next MK that would allow for the more popular characters to return to he established MK Universe to start an all new tourney...

However, my biggest gripe is Superman...Yeah, Superman can look fierce..but as much as I dislike (sort of) Superman...he can win pretty much every match by himself. I mean, Who in the MK cast can handle Supes? Shao Kahn & Shinnok, possibly...who else? Is anyone going to buy Liu KAng Bike kicking Supes off of a platform? Anyone going to buy Sonya ripping Supes' head off?

Granted the same arguments could have been made with Sakura knocking the Hulk out in the Capcom games, but MK almost always had a sense of realism about it... The jury's out for me on this game, and the footage I saw didn't make me want to rush out and buy it, and I''m a BIG BatMan fan.

Well part of the story according to Ed explains that since Supes is weak to magic in the comic, they will be able to use that in this game. We will have to see what happens when the story is revealed.

For the hell of it, Batman would beat Superman. Batman has a Kryptonite ring.

Also, I'm getting this game.

I certainally not be pre-ordering it. I will have to see more videos and reviews before I even come close to thinking of making a purchase. I will still have to get over that fact that there could potentially could be a match up between Scorpion and Superman. We are still in April , I am hoping there will be a cooment from Ed Boom saying "Ha, gotcha it's only an April Fools".

I can only tell you where I stand right now, and that's as far away from this game as I can be.

What we have to go on right now is the fact that this is MK Vs. DCU and it has Klose Kombat and Freefall Kombat, basically. The immediate idea of MK Vs. DCU depresses me as someone who's always loved MK's universe, cast, and different storylines, and as someone who wanted to see the first next-gen MK do well for itself without a gimmick. Klose Kombat and Freefall Kombat sound interesting, these two aspects could turn into a fun mechanism to make fighting more diverse, or it could turn into an annoying or otherwise boring mini-gimmick. So there's nothing right now to make me want to buy this title. If by fall I'm feeling the same way I feel right now, or if there's more things turning me off about this game than vice-versa, I'm definitely not buying it.

I still leave open the possibility that something will happen that'll interest me enough to want to play the game. Though story-wise the game will be shit, maybe the gameplay will turn out to actually be excellent, and the graphics will grow to be even more dazzling. If this is the case, I'll probably rent it so I can enjoy it at least for as long as I can.

There might be one thing that could make me buy it though, and I'm not guaranteeing anything, and you're all gonna think I'm insane for this, but if Sonya's in the game with a great new look... I don't know, I might have to forgive the crap story and the straying away from MK's real self.

Most likely;I took this whole "Idea" kind of hard at first, but then I came to realize that it could actually become a great game. From what I've seen, the least that I can say is that I'm quite excited.I would have never though that DC would become the very thing that I voted for? (Refering to the poll a couple months ago.)

The game looks great to some degree. From here on,it looks as if I'll have to look at it from a far-different prospective.

I'm sure that it's recommended that the rest of you do as well.

Negative. I think this was the final nail in the coffin for me. I want a Mortal Kombat game, and only a Mortal Kombat game. I have no interest in DC comics... Nothing against them, just not for me. Tekken 6 cannot come soon enough!

NEVER AGAIN!!!

After the drooling idiot Armageddon reduced me too, anxiously waiting for months on end, delving deeper and deeper into the lore of the game, bringing me to the point that I was making excuses for a game that had yet to come out, having people in my dorm identify me as the Mortal Kombat guy, and when all was said and done... After all that waiting and wanting, dealing with anxiety inducing delays at my gameshop, what I ended up with was one of the worse 3D fighters I'd ever played.

They'd gotten me, with their promises and marketing and the weight of their iconic characters, but now they seem to be delivering a shinier version of their last exploit, with nothing more to offer then a last ditch gimmick.

I refuse to give them my money ever again, the make subpar games, either because they are too rushed, relatively untalented, plain lazy, or simply because they know, regardless of the septic quality of their games, that they are guaranteed sales because they are MORTAL KOMBAT and people will by it, and convince themselves it is actually good.

Not when it comes out, anyway. Though that's mostly because I'm not getting a PS3 or Xbox 360 until they're right down in price. Like, right around the time the next gen consoles come around...

I'm going with pretty sturdy NO on this one. I WILL rent the game, and if I am blown away by the gameplay then MAYBE I'll give it a shot, but that is doubtful.

I'm awfully upset at the way the Amrageddon turned out. Poor gameplay, nice idea with the fatality system, but they needed to be character specific endings.

With this latest game, it just seems like a nightmare to me. I happen to like some fo the DC cast, but they just DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES belong in the MK games. I was so looking forward to an all MK cast with original mainstays, and a fresh bunch of new characters to start the story over again. REVAMP the whole game if you will, it it would have been great. Instead we get this, IMHO it is pure GARBAGE. Honestly, the end of fatalities is the nail in the coffin for me. Call me juvenile if you will, but that is a major part of the MK games. You take away fatalities, and infect the game with DC characters, HUH. I like fighting games, especially ones that play well. However, if I wanted to play street fighter I would, I choose not to because I feel like street fighter is like a cartoon with the dark grittiness of Mickey Mouse.

I also told a couple of friends of mine about Midway's plan for this game. I would classify them as casual MK fans. They are nit into totally hardcore, but they care enough to buy the games whenever they put a new one out. The replied: " Oh man that game is gonna suck, I can't believe they did a crossover. Should have been street fighter or Killer Instinct. What a load of crap." The other said "DC comics? What a sellout. That game is gonna be crap." And the latter was even more beside himself when I made mention of the whole teen rating idea. So that gives you a good idea of what some of my MK buddies think of the potential of this game. The gameplay would have to be sparkling and revolutionary to get either of these two to sniff it.

Yes!! I'll buy it for sure! I am gonna give it chance. Let's not forget guys...it's a crossover..This time it's not just us the "MK Fanboys"...it's the DC fans as well. And I think that they are gonna buy it for sure...And I am gonna buy it too. I've been a fan of the JLA and the DC characters since I was a little kid and I still am. But I am a fan of the MK series since I was a little kid too, and sure as hell like the idea of this crossover.

So yes!!!! HELL YEAH!!! I'll buy it!!

Nop .

Boon must feel what he has done to us and also I dont want this game to continue to have chapters

Right now I will be playing MK:DA,D,and A besides the old MKs but I will return to buy MK if it was a real MK .

Because I feel that Super Man is for kids as he suc*ed

Any way I dont see many old fans to buy this as the old saying says <>
A well designed ,perfect MK would do the hard thing I guess .
