I am realizing I just dont understand this system of wake-ups...with some peeps it seems the wakeups track...with others I will move in and sidestep the wakeup leading to a throw or whatever kind of attack. Someone please explain the wakeup system in fully detail to me.
while holding block, hold up and the wakeup move you want to use to track upwards, then release block.
while holding block, hold down and the wakeup move you want to use to track downwards, then release block.
to null the wakeup system in any way, just keep jumping and when you land, press 1/2/3/4 to do a jumpkick cancel into another jump INSTANTLY, and keep your hand on block when you land for a split second each time you land just in case you mistime the jumpkick cancel, you can block anything that comes your way, you will jump out of the way fast enough for the low wakeup move. so no worries. only thing that could hit you is 2 while your crossing over them, but the chances of them timing that are 1 out 100.
if you keep jumping over them and doing this, you can free throw them. plus any blocked wakeup move is a free throw also. on ps2, you can glitch throw almost anytime, so they will fear using wakeups.

few more things before i go to bed
1) never roll downwards, its the same thing as ducking, you are vunerable to every attack, including lows.. only way to cancel it out is to tap up and block while rolling. same goes for if you are just ducking. however, you can block mids while ducking by pressing block while ducking as soon as the mid is about to hit you. same goes for blocking lows high. but this is 99% impossible to time.
2) best thing about the wakeup system is to stay on the ground. it really gives you time and the edge to watch them and where they go and what they do. very important stuff
3) if they are dumb enough to walk up to you or you to them, you will eat a wake up everytime, so if youre gonna do that, jump in, then jumpkick cancel as i mentioned, and jump over them. its the same thing as jump in mixups, again you can just stay in the air the whole time, as long as you jumpkick cancel each time you land, they cant hit you. ( note: offline jumpkick cancels are not 100% safe, meaning you cant block when you land as fast as online )
4) if you jump over them, and they roll backwards, its a free throw. same as in mkd. for instance, nightwolf throw walk under, if they roll back( it will roll towards you since you jumped over them ) its a free throw.
i guess thats all i had left to say, hmm, also, you dont try to hit someone, the wake up moves will always have priority, however, some moves will trade off with wakeups, such as sweeps ( b3 hapkido ) and thats all i think of.. sorry
peace

lol, fo0r mav to post this i wanna no what player he was plaing to bring this up. there are some people from this board which i wont mention names there wake up is a joke.
meaning they can land a free wake up off any knock down, and they can sidestep all of urs, not only sidestep, but sidestep into free dial, not just throws,
this is all to crappy connection, and no way a skill.
only time u should get a free wake up is near a wall, if they are landing them everytime, mid screen, dont wsaste ur time playign them.

DNCMegaMan gets a free low wake-up off of everything. Wall or mid-screen. Doesn't matter. He does it every single time, so I started to mash down+blk every time I knocked him down. He could do it every single time. Of course, he has an insane jump, too.
If I'm playing somebody who likes to walk up after a knock-down (as oppose to waiting back), I have to stay on the ground. Rolling is a free 50/50 for them. A LOT of guys like to walk-up and circle you hoping to side-step your wake-up and get a free throw or whatever. From my experience, it seems you have to wait until they've taken a step or two around you, and then your kick will track. If you do it before, you'll wiff. I don't hold up or down or anything like that. Just wait a half-second.
And then there's guys that like to walk up and quick sweep or mid you (I.E. Kabal's U+4 or Raiden's F+1). It's only if I notice somebody has a tendency to do this or if they're jumping at me or something that I'll throw out a quick wake-up.

I don't get this one, Red. If he has lag advantage (which he does), then that means if he walks up on me he's closer than what I see. That means he can start dials, throws, or whatever out of range as far as I'm concerned.
I understand that part. But how does this free wake-up work for him? Like if I air breaker him, he lands and can somehow reach me with a wake-up. But I haven't moved yet. So is he just landing closer on his screen after the air breaker or a plant or whatever? How does that shit work?

It's easy to avoid unless you're in the corner IMO, just jump back after a knock down...that's what I do most of the time, only time I'll charge after a KD is if my foe sucks at wake up or doesn't use it at all but most of the time I play it safe and just jump back immediately.
DNC definitely does something to get the free wake up i've noticed but then I jumped back and make him come to me=no more free wake ups

No, you're not understanding me, MKF. This is all mid-screen, mind you. DNCMegaMan can be knocked down in any variety of ways by me. Most commonly, it's a plant or air breaker. From there (since he doesn't change it up and I know exactly what he's going to do), I've tried everything to escape it. Block low, jump back, jump forward, side-step up, side-step down, attack.... everything. I can't get away from it.
It's basically like when a guy can hit you with Kabal/Mavado's U+2 and then walk up a free-throw you at mid-screen (which I've seen, too). The only thing is, those guys have to walk up to throw you and they are closer on their screen than they are on yours.
With this, it's wierd. I plant him or air breaker him and he lands at the same distance everybody does. But for some reason, (1) he can reach me with a wake up, and (2) I'm not able to do anything before he does. It's wierd because neither one of us has moved. He just "lands" closer or something. That's why I asked Red what he knew.

I think you misunderstood what I said a little man.
I totally understand you man, I wasn't addressing your post btw I was just saying in general how to avoid wake ups or at least how I avoid them if the opponent uses them well or somehow never misses them when you side step them like in DNC's case....
I do agree that with DNC there's something ...off with how he always nails you despite whether he's doing something with the lag or actually timing it right but I can tell you factually, just jump back after you knock someone down. It's worked every time for me unless there's horrible lag or something involved. I am talking about midscreen also btw.
Now the vibe I'm getting from you chaos is that perhaps the connection is worse when you play DNC for you therefore he knows he has that edge over you and what he can do and not do to you, you obviously don't know that at the time and he won't just tell you "btw I'm taking advantage of my fucked up connection" lol which I don't blame you, I found out the same way the first time I played him saying ok everyone else I can elude the wake up yet not this guy?.....
That's not my fault, your fault or anyone else here which is apparently everyone lol who has wake up trouble against DNC...that's why when I played him after the first time I just jump back immediately after I knock him down, now the situation with you saying you can't knock him down I have no idea what that's about personally. Sounds like something odd going on or the connection is just weird.
I know when I play him weird shit happens and when I play eazy the oddest shit happens compared to everyone else on here.

simple, his recovery frames are like non existent. thats why his jumps tracks and are so hard to avoid. when u see his jump on your screen he has already jumped on his and is prob about to kick u already on his when u are just seeing the kick on urs.
yes his wake up, can not be blocked, or avoided by jumping. ive said his conn was wack since day one, his recovery frames dont exist. he can low poke me and jump back or over, before i can even try and counter the poke.
for the most part, only use the uppercut wake up on a wall, when the wake up is free than take the free throw. overall use the (3) button for ur wake up.
and if they sidestep ur wake its a free throw only, if they are landing mids , dials, etc after a missed wake up. than just quit cause ur wasting ur time.

I was able to jump his wake ups, but not easily...one thing I remember about him. His connection is definitely odd to say the least.
