After watching the Story Mode video on gamesradar.com, I've come to realize that when title stated "Mortal Kombat VERSUS DC Universe", that's what it meant.

I find this to be a detriment. I'm pretty sure many us believed that Liu Kang and Superman would put aside their differences and join forces - and I bet that's what we were hoping for - but now that we know that's not the case, it seems that this game is torn. Two sides being one-sided is not a good idea. Two sides coming together has always been a great idea. Marvel has proved that about... 1,000,000,000 times, so has Nintendo, i.e. SSBB.

Yeah, sure, Scorpion and Liu Kang will be fighting side by side, but is that really surprising? The people of Mortal Kombat are known to form an alliance with anyone, if that's what it takes to survive. Tanya has done it, Li Mei has done it, Ermac, Cyrax, Goro, Jade, Raiden, Sindel, Kabal, Frost, they've all done it. Now, they're about to do it again.

I think an alliance formed with both heroes and villians from both universes, all together to combat Dark Kahn, would've been a much better plot. I think it would've convinced MK fans to appreciate DC, and vice versa. Now, MK and DC will forever be seperate, using this game as catalyst for which is better.

Well, that's what I have to say, what do you guys think?

Yeah, i was hoping it wasn't another MKA style affair, but I was wrong. I was hoping for something a little less simplistic. The rage is a shitty cop out plot device I can tell from the start.

I'd hoped we see interesting interplays of character dynamics. Mistrust, yes, but eventually recognition of who's a hero and who's not.

It might be called MK VS DC, but to have them just clash as two armies on some asteroid, looks INTENSELY crappy and anti-epic.

And there lies the problem in my opinion. The whole idea of "two sides coming together and joining forces" is just too common and as you just said, everyone (including myself) was expecting just that. I mean, this idea is so overused and so boring by now it’s nearly unbearable. In every crossover it's like "OMG! The villains of our world are joining forces with the villains of the other world!! We HAVE to do the same otherwise we'll be doomed!!!!!!“ Honestly... there wouldn't be any surprises if the MK Crew recycled that idea again.... but I've to admit that I'm not sure if the other idea of "clashing forces" is so much better... we'll see.

At the end it's always a matter of taste. For the time being I’m very happy with the overall story. I don't know if it'll be epic, but it'll be entertaining... that's for sure.

Well we've known they'd be fighting side vs side for quite a while. Still I bet they'll end up joining forces against Dark Kahn.

I think the story mode will be fine and if all else fails will be the best part about this game as long as the purists out there go in with an open mind and put aside the nitpicking for a non cannon game of all things.

Its not like they displayed the whole story mode out there.

Im pretty sure they'll be betrayals along the way. Still having Liu Kang, Scorpion and Tsang Shung working side by side is pretty damn cool. Lazy or not.

Same thing with Batman, Superman and Joker. It doesnt have to make sense, but in the end it looks damn cool. The squeaky clean hero (Superman), the Dark Knight and his psychotic enemy all joining forces to battle another problem.

Story Mode will be epic if nothing else is IMO.

You're missing the point.

First off, "worlds uniting" is not as cliche as "world against world". Hell, it's probably not cliche at all. Second, having two different worlds going head to head, especially with both groups believing the other is doing wrong, is old and boring, which is why the whole tournament thing with Mortal Kombat had ceased by MK3. Third, as I have stated before, MK characters - as well as DC characters, as a matter of fact - allign with each other all the time. It's about time they allign with someone else. It was mentioned that unlikely alliances would be formed. Don't you think Jax fighting alongside the Joker is an unlikely alliance? I am so sick of these Con-Pro groups in fighting games. I thought it would end at MKArmageddon. Unfortunately, it didn't.

I hope there's a Team Mode in the game, like MK4.
At first they are goin against one another until they see the bigger threat that is Dark Khan. Then maybe we will see the unlikely heroes and kombantants join forces. Just a few more weeks to know it allgrin

Once upon a time movie trailers didn't spoil the end.

How do you think the story gets resolved?

And he said it all...

We all know that when Dark Kahn shows up,
everyone will shit their pants and help out to destroy him.

Why would you really want Superman and Liu Kang to put their differences aside and join forces anyway? Spoilers: the good guys win and then go their seperate ways, just like every single other instance of two good sides "joining forces." Boring plot concept in my opinion.

I think in crossover situations I prefer to see the characters/creatures/worlds/etc just duke it out to find out who comes out on top. If it's a game featuring Batman and Scorpion, I don't want them to work together for some common good, I want them to beat the shit out of each other to test each others limits, or to find out who's the man. It's more fun to me that way. And considering this game isn't canon, potential story arcs are inconsequential anyway.

But yeah, Dark Kahn, etc.

In my opinion nothing's trumped that as the biggest disappointment.

Seriously, does EVERY fucking fighting game has to be based on some sort of competition? Come on! That's the cliche shit right there! Enough with the competitions! Do something else!

For example, SOUL CALIBUR. No competition, no trying to see who's the better fighter. Many people are searching for the same items for their own good reasons, and will beat the shit out of anyone who gets in their way. What's wrong with that?

Nothing, that's what's wrong! If all you care about in fighting games are meaningless competitions, then play fucking WWE, or Tekken or something.
