In mortal Kombat, they refer to the 4th plane of Kuatan, the 5th plane of the netherealm...Does anyone understand what they mean by that? what the hell's a plane??

An astral boundary. Like divisions of certain afterlifes. Say hell is split up into 9 sections, each of those sections would be a plane.
