What are these rotating/floating jewels in the DK's throne room? (pics inside)

In trailer 3 you can see different colored floating jewels on pedestals in the DK's arena. Does anyone have any idea what these are? Are they key to to the DK's revival and destruction? Maybe you have to destroy them all before you can do any damage to the DK....

weapons, deathtraps? I saw them before, but I never really took the time to make a thread about them. Others ahve brought this up, but I do think this topic needs to be discussed more.

Maybe they are just decoration or a way to get through a portal ahhh I dont know what the hell they are.

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say they are portals to the six realms.

I think that those are the gems that in a way are connect to realms, or maybe are the gems that Nitara had in order to travel to realms.

I bet there Realm related like many said. Or maybe they can be used as a stage weapon of some sort like all 4 or how many they are shoot a strong beam that hurts DK. Doubtful I bet they are too all 6 realms.
