What do you think could have been done to make Jarek a more appealing Character?

Jarek has never been a popular character. I might go as far as to say that Jarek is the least popular Mortal Kombat character. Other unpopular character have at least a few fans. Stryker has his fans, Mavado has his fans, Kobra has his...Oh wait no..no, I don't believe Iv'e seen or heard about Kobra fan's... well I like Kobra soooo....um yeah Kobra has his fans. But Jarek doesn't really have have any fans.....Okay I'm sure there are some people that like Jarek somewhere.

but anyways.

What do you all think could have been done to make Jarek more appealing?

What I think needs the most improvement about Jarek is his story. Now I'm not the kinda guy to think a character needs a super great story to be great, but a better story could have definatly have helped Jarek because his Story in Mortal Kombat just seemed so pathetic. Especially after reading his bio.

While I was at work today I was thinking, It would have been a neat direction to have Jarek join the Red Dragon. He'd join The Red Dragon in spite of Kano for not ever attempting to rescue him while he was under the clutches of Sonya and Jax. But being the kiniver that Jarek is he secretly have plans to over rule Daegon and take control over the Red Dreagon himself. I know it's very cliche especially for Mortal Kombat but I felt it'd give Jarek some sort of motivation, besided the whole "I want to learn the ULTIMATE Fatality to kill my enemies!!!" plus it'd even out the Red and Black Dragon members in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. You know Black Dragon Members would be Kano, Kabal, Kira, and Kobra and The Red Dragon members would be Daegon, Mavado, Hsu Hao and then Jarek.

Move wise Jarek in MK4 (sans the earthquake ground bash thing) was exactly like Kano and I believed this turned a lot of people off from him. (Me included) He seems to have different moves in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. I haven't used Jarek yet in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. To those that are dissatisfied with Jarek's move set in MKA, what would you have done differently with his move set to make it more appealing?

About Jarek's looks

I never really did mind his design. In MK4 his design was kinda bland. I like his design in MKA a lot more but it's nothing spectacular. I honestly don't know what I could do for his design. To those that are really dissatisfied with Jarek's design, how would you make his design better?

Well if you really thing about it, the design of his character lacks some significant traits.

Take a look at Shinnok, Scorpion, or Sub-zero. What ,makes these characters stand out? Exactly what you are thinking now.

They are very unique characters. That is what Jarek lacks right now. I see lots and lots of potential with Jerek, and yet his creators haven't takes the chance yet to exploit his potential.

The reason Jarek isn't popular is because he was a clone(probably still is) of Kano.

Wait...haha, I don't think you guys quite understand my topic. I understand why Jarek isn't a very appealing character to people. My topic subject is basically asking, what would you add or change about Jarek to make him a lot more likeable?

Make him have a larger role in the grand scheme of things, instead of just another Black Dragon Clan member...he's one of the fill in characters for the most part but he's ok. He's not the worst, not the best IMO.

Either way it really doesn't matter because I doubt you'll see him again in future MK's. We'll see.

I disagree.

To me, Jarek was greatly improved in every possible aspect of his character....expect one: his MKA story.

That’s were, imo, they failed miserably with his character. All he needed was a decent well developed story that had more background and depth then his silly quest for the perfect fatality. Only a few good things of his MKA story can be pointed out (such as his survival, his confrontation with Jax, him being hidden and being very mad at those who betrayed him), but overall it lacked so much depth, it was sad.

But aside from that very negative thing, Jarek did get:

Awesome new moves and an amazing new look. Perfect.

Jarek was made more appealing for MKA, imo, they succeded. His looks and moves rock. Its his story that kind of sucks.

jerek was never popular and i never was a big fan. he was never like something way different from the others
