Well this thread is not intended to determine if she should be or not in the game, if she sucks or if she rather use panties or g-string. I want to post some ideas what she has to offer to us in the next installment:

Her part in the story in mk4 said she was an ally to kitana that she came from edenia and was a close friend to her, her ending on the other hand depicted her as a betrayer of the warriors (but we know those endings might never came true) but anyway i have some ideas:

Her story wasw enver officialy unveiled, i mean the outcome of mk4, they never said she was really dead but i think indeed she was a betrayer, she might work as a spy for the dragon king and might be involved in the return of Sindel (as both come from edenia) she probably warned sindel of the coming threat as working as a double agent for the D. King and the Edenians (as you can see kitana isn't back so tanya might be involved in this)

She had a lot of potential (even tho she was a kitana rip-off) with a few twists on her move set and story she might get really badass (remember the chicks rule on MK series),

She might be one of the central pieces on the destruction of edenia and might be a team for baraka and mileena.

well i think now that is almost official she'll be back we might have to get used to her and acept her becuz she might be in our future. SuCh IOs LiFe................

I never liked tanya but you might be right - she might get a rewally good makeover for mk:d. her story wasnt too fleshed in mk4 but from the stuff we had i suppose her character fits right into a Deception storyline so who knows.
a cool new look and perhaps a unique weapon may provide her with a strong following.

Tanya is an interesting character to me. Her storyline was this:

She was the daughter of the ambassador of Edenia. However, Shinnok paid her to do a dastardly deed for him....it turns out ever since people heard that Shinnok was attacking, Edenia was a place of refuge for many realms looking to hide from him. Tanya allowed some more refugees in....but it turns out the "refugees" were Shinnok and his army in disguise! She had let them in, and that was how Shinnok and the Army of Darkness took over Edenia. Since then, Tanya's been helping out Shinnok run things and maybe doing a couple of missions for him....and it's obvious she's befriended the Earthrealm warriors to con them into Shinnok's traps.

what happened after that well I guess we'll find out. I mean, it's obvious that her ending didn't happen. So it'll be interesting to see how she was punished or whatever.

Did she have a boomerang (with razor sharp edge)in MK4?

If yes, well in 3D such a weapon has heaps of potential, not only during normal gameplay but also with Fatalities and Hari Kiri.
She might end up a very good character afterall.

As far as playability, she was the best character in the game. I could smoke anyone using Tanya in Mortal Kombat 4. However I agree, she was just a Kitana knock off, and her character isn't that important to the series as a whole.

tanya was to kitana in mk4 what li mei was to mileena in mk5, i.e. lame filler clones alleged to be new characters. since sindel is back, i guess it aint too far fetched tanya is back. mayhaps sindel is seeking vengance for tanya's betrayal. either way there are plenty of other cool characters in the game to appease most fans so a few jobbers aint gonna matter. at least tanya and li mei are no where near the lameness that is jax or stryker.

Even though i think Tanya sucks, i must say that her moves and such were pretty good in MK4. Though, she was nothing but a filler, and a useless story. Well, IMO, atleast shes better than Li Mei. We'll have to see what happens with her story, probably alot of decieving and such.

I don't think her story was useless. She was the one who "invited" Shinnok in Edenia. Her act of treachery caused all events in MK4 to follow.
She was not among the 5 worst characters in MK4, but she does need a very good excuse for her return.

i really didn't like Tanya in mk4... but she does have potential.. giver her a good look.. good movies... and a good deceptive story and she could be an actually good character... she is alot better than other characters who could have returned and arn't so im not complaining... i would much rather see tanya instead of jax or styker or osmething like that... and can't be expected to like the entire lineup of mkD... so if not gonna like em they might as well be people like tanya who have some potential to get better as they havent been used in many of the games like bad characteres IMO like jax stryker johhny....

As far as referring to Tanya, I too express ideas of my own. Being a video game archiver of histories and storylines, at one point it was mentioned that Tanya's mother was the ambasador for Edenia at Queen Sindel's side. Tanya was exlcusively caught by Shinnok and his minnions while fleeing refugee between two worlds with Sindel, which leads us to belive that Sindel is revatively still alive and was never "re-killed" in MK3 during her resurection.

My thoughts on this are rather upsetting because my favorite character was always kitana, I will be sure as hell pissed of if she does not make it as a playable character in MKD. I was hoping that she would. I sensed some rivalry between her and the vampire succubus Nitara, which no word was said about her ether.

Ed Boon metions that Deception will mean some thing important in this game and the story will take a huge twist. I always belived that Baraka and his mistress Mileena would team up again like in MK2 but I see a weird twist of fate as Tanya and Meileena may join forces. This being that Mileena wants to be queen, and Tanya well she's just dirty. It's rather funny and unfortunate that the only African American woman in the game is evil, I wonder if that is supposed to maen something?

Hit back sometime with youre idea's I'd like to discuss the MK universe with you!

i agree that now she has returned she must have an important plot in the story, she must be a very important ally to the D.King, and the rivalry with sindle must be a good point for her return, anyway i agree that the neck break fatality was sick, but i know she has more potential and well to the guy that regets her to be the only African American to be in the game and being evil i don't understand your point bro???????? SuCh Is Life.............

Guys.....Sindel never died. I can't believe no one ever knew that. Sindel never died. She got her memories back thanks to Kitana and helped fight against Shao Kahn.

After things went back to normal, Sindel became the queen of Edenia again and she's been queen ever since....that's all. We'll see what happens now.

Fatality 1 : Throws Boomerang at opponent, severing an arm on the way through, on the way back lops head clean off before Tanya catches it again.

Fatality 2 : Tanya grabs victim by hair and pulls head back, rips out Boomerang and it's blade is glowing and buzzing. With it she simply slits the opponents throat.

Tanya really offers nothing but another under-developed character who is taking the spot of a much more worthwhile character. Hell, I'd rather see Rain rather than Tanya. At least they didn't bring back Reiko or Kai.
