For all you pessimists out there who say there is no more unlockables.....THINK ABOUT IT. First of all, its only been a week. Second of all, remember how hard it was to find Liu Kang as well as Shujinkos moves (only appears at this location at this time on this day of the week in this month, etc...). If it was sooo hard to find those, we should expect that the SUPER unlockables are even HARDER to find. If it weren't for these forums, half of us would have NEVER found all of these. Finally, ED BOON HIMSELF has said there is more to find. In some of his interviews he has stated that, YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE GAME TWICE TO FIND EVERYTHING and, THERE ARE MORE THAN 24 PLAYABLE CHARACTERS IN THE GAME. If you don't believe me, look for the interviews. In closing, for all you guys out there who keep posting things like "there's nothing more to find" and "stop wasting your time", JUST SHUT UP ALREADY. UNLESS YOU HAPPEN TO BE ONE OF THE PROGRAMMERS WHO MADE THIS GAME, STOP TRYING TO TELL US TO STOP LOOKING!! JUST STOP POSTING, YOU'RE NOT HELPING.furiousfuriousfurious

I agree with you. For the main purpose that, yes, some of us HAVE to beat the game again to figure out how to get Kung Lao which leads into more missions. LOL tongue

I want to see some of those interviews. Anyone have links to them? Everyone keeps mentioning them but they are never doing direct citation and quotes.

Your post bores me. Please post links to these Ed Boon interviews you rely upon so heavily in your argument, or tell us all that your post is wholly unsubstantiated.

If you all get Gamepro look at the interview in the August issue where Ed Boon confirmed super unlockables. There are super unlockables and those that deny it are just stupid.

Go to the news archive, go to May 2004, find and download the fan-interview by Scott and Justin talking with Ed and the Pre-E3 party, and watch the second question where they ask if there will be more than 24 characters.
Ed's answer- "Yes, there will be more than 24 characters. The...uh...the main grid that you choose from will be 8x3, which is 24 characters, but we do plan on hiding additional characters in the Konquest mode that will be in addition to the main 24."
So, there you go. They had from May until late September to add however many characters, and they also had from May until late September to scrap the idea. No side can win this fight until either 1) We have found everything in Konquest mode, which probably won't be for a couple more months or 2) We do indeed find more playable characters in Konquest mode.

Alright, I have watched the interview on Gamespot and realize now that it can be taken two seperate ways.
Here is what he said exactly in the interview refering to characters:
"the main grid of characterss that you choose from is 24 but theres going to be more than that in the game, we really wanted to have stuff hidden in the game that's not even apparent on the main select screen. These modes start out with a small amount of characters and they grow to the full size as you unlock stuff in konquest mode and the krypt and all that."
Now, here is the optimistic way to take this. You decide that the main grid is all the 12 visable characters plus the 12 unlocked characters and thus stuff not apparent on the main select screen would be super unlockables like Shang, Quan Chi, or Sonya, much like it was in DA. I want to believe this way, I really do. I want to believe that he meant more than 24 playable characters.
Here is the other way, and the way I have come to think is the actual way he meant it when he said it.
The main grid is the 12 visable characters when you start the game without going into Konquest. With that in mind, the grey characters that you must unlock in Konquest are those not apparent on the main select screen. "Well, then what did he mean by 'more than 24'" you ask? He didn't say more than 24 playable characters did he? Well... if you take that in mind, he could have meant that there are more characters in MK:D as they are in Konquest. Reptile or Jax would be an example of this, if you start counting all the characters in Konquest plus the characters playable in Arcade, you get much more than 24. If this is what he meant in the interview, then I am sad that there are no more characters to play with, but that's life.
I just wish that someone else would interview him now that the game has been released and ask him what exactly he meant. I want him, Bradygames, or IGuide to confirm either that there -are- more than 24 playable characters, or that there -are not-. Until then it is all speculation on both sides and arguing over it as this forum is doing with post after post is helping nothing.
Let's just say that we don't know either way, but those who want to try and find them can go looking for them and those who don't think that there are can sit back, relax, and wait and see if they were right.
I'm tired of checking these boards and finding posts with topics like "SUPER UNLOCKABLES PROOF" with them then turning out to either be a BS game played on me or an argument for or against their existence in the game with no real proof on either side.
Thanks, that's just my 2 cents, sorry if its long. Please don't flame me also, I presented arguments for both sides and I'm sticking with the "We don't know, but I hope there is" side.

Raiden and Liu aren't the Super Unlockables. They are part of the main 24. Everytime Boon talked about Super Unlockables, he never failed to mention that they would ADDITIONAL to the main 24.

Is there a separate interview where he says "Super unlockables" exactly? The gamespot interview I watched said nothing about it, and neither did the Xbox interview. If anyone can provide a link to this other interview where he says the words "Super unlockables are not the 24 characters on the select screen" I would very much appreciate it.

All I know is that there should be more. Not one 'real' secret had been found yet. As far as Raiden and Liu Kang being the 'SU", who knows, that could be it. But those are not secret at all. They are on the select screen. That could be all there is in there, but we haven't found anything secret yet. Hell MKDA had Mokap and Blaze on the select screen as selectable. We haven't even found shitty characters like those yet. I'm sure there is more to this game than Liu and Raiden that can be found shown on the select screen.

Dear Psyclobex,
KenshiMaster and myself have already proven you wrong. Stop posting here. Your argument is void. Thanks KenshiMaster.
P.S. For everyone who said "ZZZZ' to my article. If you didnt like it you should have stopped reading, no one forced you to. It not my fault your guys don't have a long enough attention or that you can't realize this is an important issue on this site as of late. Just don't post, your not helping.
Also, one of you that posted is right, we don't KNOW that there are, that's why were trying to find out, and thats why I'm tired of people telling us to stop looking.

A lot of people are too obsessed with these unlockable characters but, good god Psychoplex, you are the most obsessed with tryin to disprove these theories. Are you really that fixated on proving your theory, or have you just committed all the time in your worthless life to destroy these people's hopes in disproving the theory of unlockable characters in a video game
anyway, KenshiMaster, you mentioned Kung Lao and extra missions? Ive never heard of this before, has it been confirmed or is this just another theory?
sorry i had to knock on you Psychoplex, but you already expressed your opinion, now just let people think want they want about speculated secrets in a video game

I have said it before but he never said playabe characters, okay, in fair ness that's a technicality!
What he said was" more characters than the 24 on the select screen!"
I'm fairly certain he just means, that in konquest you can find the other characters! They're standing around all voe rthe shop, you can see them, talk with them, etc! But not unlock them! Just find them!
I have seen and heard the interview and that's how i interpreted it as that is what makes the most sense! Even includes the "have to play it twice to find everything" Because it's unlikely you'll have seen everything the first time round! 90% of the "theories" i've seen have been EXTREMELY wild and based on the very loosest of interpretations. The other 10% is the evidence discove3red by the codebreakers and hackers so far, that is rather promising atleast!
As for people asking for/if Boon to specifically mention the term super unlockable, he won't super unlockable is a term that started among the fans, mostly because they'd found out about all of the unlockables before they'd even got hold of the game and couldn't face the fact that there was no real suprise, as such to discover, though that's not to say there might well BE some secret by coincidence ofcourse!
That said though i'm tired of threads with "evidence" that is either a rehash of stuff we already or essentially another wild baked theory that could've fitted into any of the other "theory" threads(Though i realise your all trying to get your own thread so you get the credit, just in case your wild baked theory happens to be right) However equally tiresome are the threads that are just plain ANTI super unlockable, they serve little purpose, but can you blame them, every third thread is the same damn thing!
It'd be nice to have ONE official SU unlockable thread stickied! Then mods could jsut move all further theories into it, or jsut lock them! That'd be nice! have some actual game conversations i say!

Well, after viewing the video, it seems pretty clear that there are more than 24 characters in the game that we can play.
I will add this qualifier, however: Boon did not explicitly state that the extra characters would be playable. The context of his statement does suggest, though, that they will be playable.
Here are the quotes from the video:
"The main grid of characters that you choose from is gonna be 24, but
there's going to be more than that in the game."
"You know we really wanted to have a lot of stuff that's hidden in the game
that's not really apparent on the main select screen."
Regarding the Super Unlockables, didnt boon state that they wouldnt be on the select screen. Liu Kang & Raiden are clearly there. So it cant be them.It has to be 2 other people.
