What if using special moves will weaken you?

In MKDA they tried to focus more on the actual fighting then on the special moves, thats why they had only a few of them. But special moves has always played a big part in MK so what if in MKD or MK7 the special moves which involves projectiles (which will cost a lot of strength) will weaken your character. This way the player will automatically focus more on the fighting and will bring the use of special moves to a more tactical level.

That's an intriguing idea, and could definately make the fighting more interesting, but I don't know if we'll ever see that in an MK game. Still, you never know.

I don't really like the idea of getting weaker with each special move. Special moves already leave you open for an attack especially if the move doesn't hit the opponent. They should probably just leave it at that.

To anyone who cares, I'm not banned. I left of my own accord. This place is dead to me now.

It makes sense that launching a fireball or an ice blast would drain your strength. But for other special moves - flying kicks, ground rolls, etc. - it just doesn't seem right. Good idea, though.

this would only work with some kind of an energy bar and that would sort of ruin the gameplay for me unless you could take it off in options because i dont use much tactics in mk i just like to whoop up on the person best i can. only tactics i ever use are blocking and sidesteppin. i would like to leave it at that. it aint a bad idea but it wouldnt suit mk in my opinion

Using special moves is already risky enough because it leaves your fighter open for an attack if you miss, I say leave it at that!

This doesnt involve other special moves like kicks and rolls, only projectiles. Each character could have a number of projectiles and other special moves. I like stevodastoppa idea for using a special energy bar for it, something like the run meter. I just hate it when people keep firing fireballs at you, I know they are easy to avoid but it still spoils the match IMO. And of course an option to turn it on and off would be good.

Well, if it's going to have too much "in-fight" options, people are going to go crazy while playing online. A dumbass will want xx options turned ON , the other will want these OFF . Then , the loser will say: you beat me because of these options and bla-bla-bla!! I say keep it the brutal and gory way it is already and have everyone fight under the same rules. If it's going to be much options like MK:DA, I say NO TIME_LIMIT , 3 out of 5 rounds to win, and MAX BLOOD

The projectiles are still being fired only forward, as if you were playing a 2D game, they are so easy to side-step, if you put a limit on how many times you can do them in quick succession you might as well take them out altogether.

The idea seams logical...
But NON!
I don't want that...
I'm an oldschool and I've always played MK more with the moves than with the Combo system.
I've played TMNT on the NES a few days ago, and in that game (The manathan Project) your turtle lose energy... it was...
IRITATING! especialy when you are low on life bar.

I personally think this is a bad idea. First off you have to be tactical in order to pull using the projectile off already and making it cost a bit of your life bar is pretty much nonsensical because then the projectiles would have no real value, what use would having them at all be? No I'm sorry but it should stay the way it is, the projectiles have always been a fun little addition to MK, don't punish MK gamers for liking these moves, the opening it leaves the opponent is good enough.
Not really a good idea:
1. Like Tao Feng: Fist Of The Lotus it makes the game too difficult and aggrivating (especially vs. someone and not the computer)
2. opponents would over use regular moves too much (especially for people that keep u in the corner doing the same move over and over again)
3. regular punches/kicks/throws/etc. would be rather useless (but not completely)
4. once a character becomes slow and groggy they're useless and u might as well hand over the controller to the next person
5. rounds wouldn't last that long
