Finding the fats was just part of the whole "MK experience." You went to the arcade, sat around an MK2 cab with a dozen other peeps for a few hours, hoping to see a fat. Or smash one out yourself then reverse engineer it, because you had no idea WTF you just did. Shit, some fats weren't found for months after the release. How long did it take to discover the Kintaro fat?

Out of all the people who play MK, out off all the input combonations there are for a fat, they WOULD be found. You can't tell me that 20,000+ peeps searching for fats wont find them; because they will.

Going on usenet, seeing a fat for the first time was just a wonderfull part of playing MK back in the day. In all honesty, THAT is what gave MK most of it's mystiqe.

I swear, you yougins', lol. Peace and love ya'll.

Agreed. It is not necassarily the figuring them out that everyone is advocating. It's the excitement/anticipation of not knowing what you might see that made the whole experience great.

I can choose not to look at guides, but if I go online, I am going to see all the fatalities in a day or so. Back when I started playing, the anticipation built up so much that when a new one was seen, it was that much better.

I can ask people online not to tell me how to do them, but if everyone else knows it, what is the point in not learning it myself. Once someone at the arcade did it, it was known to everyone there, but this took awhile... created suspense... and once in awhile, you could pass your knowledge to someone who had not seen one yet. There was a whole kommunity back in the day that shared gathered info. Online play could bring that aspect back, but everyone wants to know everything off the bat. A kommunity will be there, but it won't have the same excitement that the originals' generated.

Wouldn't it be cool if you played someone and you had info on a fatality that they had never seen. You win, and they say, "WOW!!, how'd you do that" It always made me feel good, and felt even better to share it with them. Lets say you lose, and know a hara kiri that they haven't seen. Yes, they won, but they still say, "WTF, I've never seen that before!!" Even better the reaction if hara kiris were not known.

It works the other way too: it was just as fun to see something that you have never seen before.

I miss those days. sad

To everyone who says they want to know what it has to offer... Do you know the story line of the video games you buy before you play them?? I don't and would not want to know. Do you get a strategy guide and play through something in a few sittings??

When I started MK, SF, & Tekken, I knew how to do nothing. I learned, I watched, I practiced, and I was taught. Many good friends were made this way, but a strategy guide has never befriended me. Hell, I didn't even know how to sweep, uppercut, or do special moves when I first played MK.

My point is.. fatalities have little to do with the gameplay or how good the game is. I always viewed them as a secret within the game to be uncovered. It was more exciting that way.

Just my opinion.

F*** it im going to gamefaqs.

That's what I'm saying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it's on GameFAQs, then someone has found some secrets/fatals...this is all part of the sharing and community effort I'm talking about!!!!!
This is all hypothetical, assuming that there will be no guide or magazine that shows us everything.

Jesus people...DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?!?!?

listen jpetrunak....when MK2 come out, internet was non existent, and here in my country game magazines were too espensive to purchase....and that was the magic,to pull off fatalities by finding out the button combination without internet and without magazines....today with the internet and guides you're one touch away to know everything, and for me,that is the kind of things that ruin the games, not just MK....

bye....tongue

Some times you can get lucky and discover a fatalitiy.I luck up and pulled off Kano's heart rip one in MK1,didn't know what I did but I did it first at my arcade. And the fist day MK2 came to my arcade I lucked up and pulled off Scorpion's toasty fatalitiy. It was a cool feeling to do that in front of a crowd of people and hear the ohh's and aww's.

Many of the finishing moves were discover by many different people at are arcades and when someone learned a new one it was passed on to others. And it did take months to do them all but that was part of the fun.

The problem with MKDA was that the fist day that it came out I knew all of the fatalities that same day. Some of the magic was gone and thats why so many fans were unhappy with MKDA.

I've been with this argument since day one. Unfortuantely, not everyone has experienced those days. OMG.. they ruled.

Those days are over =)
Dont blame the internet or magazines if you are so weak to fall for temptation.
