I've played most of the games except Mythologies, Special Forces, and Armageddon. I wasn't really impressed with MK:DA because you can only execute 1 type of fatality. I really like MK:D because of Konquest mode, but the game I like the most from 2002-2006 is MK:SM. I was never really into action and adventure games until MK:D and MK:SM.

_apcs_ you just said everything i was gonna say.

Next time, use the "Add Original" button to use someone's post as a basis, and not the copy & paste technique. wink

Well, i think the best MK so far was Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.
It was a revolution in the MK franchise, it launched the series to directly compete with other 3D fighting franchises such as Tekken and Virtua Fighter, it had the most fluid gameplay and best looking graphics in any MK game, it was a balanced game, it introduced most of the things that served as basis for Deception to be as successfull as it was.

MK Deception is my second choice. It has a Konquest mode concept that should have been introduced in MK DA (if DA had the type of Konquest that Deception has, it would be a legend game), it had Hara-Kiris (though i see some negative aspects in this feature), it had a dark and bleack ambient and aura that was on par, and probably exceeded, MK 2's, it had the best Character select screen ever (i really love it) ..etc. One thing i think Deception should have had, was the test your might/sight feature, instead of those annoying mini-game that have nothing to do with the actual MK spirit.

The chess and tetris mini games make MK look somewhat "goofy" and "idiotic" like the "friendships" and the "babalities" did in the past.

I like shaolin monks because although the story was cheesy, it was nostalgic, and visiting environments like the living forest and the monestary gave them a whole new level of realism.

I say it's a tie...Shaolin Monks and Armageddon. Why ? I loved the new take on the MK series that they did in SM. I love MK but always being restricted to just a fighting game does get a little old.On the other hand ..the Konquest mode in MK:A did a great job of recreating this plus being able to pick just about anyone you can dream of playing as pushes the bar kinda high. Sheer awesomeness vs nostalgic value ...I'm not sure which wins in my book.

MKDA: Well as the first mk game for five years at the time it had a lot to give seeing as there wasn't a decent game since 1995 (Mk three).

I didn't really know what to make of it at first then I checked out the krypt and thought it was a revolutionary idea. And the idea that you need a specific color coin to open up the koffins.

To be honest I thought it was a pain in the ass in the old games unlocking the new characters. But the hidden characters in deadly alliance you could buy in the krypt so you don't have to spend fifty minutes looking for codes on the internet.

This also brought in the konquest idea. This being the first one was a very simple idea and it was quite half assed. Although this was a very easy game seeing as in konquest you went through ten different training areas learning each of the styles and special moves. But I did like it how the area changed the further you went. Like when you go into the frozen plains it's really icy.

This game also brought in new characters like Nitara, Bo Rai Cho, Frost, Hsu Hao and Mavado. And it was half and half with the characters meaning that some are the best characters that the mk team have ever come up with and some were just plain ridiculas. Like Bo Rai Cho...What the hell were they thinking! I'm all for the teacher idea but why on gods green earth does he have to belch and fart. This is a game for 18+ year olds and not 7 year olds. Then you have Mavado with a natural charisma and a lot of potential and kicked the crap out of Kabal and stole his hook swords.

Also this game introduced a new battle system with two fighting styles and a weapon to suit the characters. I loved the idea and it really showed how mortal kombat had developed from using four different moves (plus specials).

And the fatality's were nothing to wow about. The ideas were good but only one fatality...I felt disappointed feeling they could do more like brutalities and animalities.

MKD: This game came out two years after mortal kombat deadly alliance and I got to say they advanced a hell of a lot.

First I got to start with the free roam konquest. I used to spend hours and hours on end just running around talking to the people and completing the missions for them. I felt this was a really nice touch that added hours of gameplay to an already pretty large story. And the idea you could traverse all the different realms. Also the idea of koins and treasure chests lying around unlocking keys for the krypt.

The krypt is practically the same as the one in mortal kombat deadly alliance only in this one you see certain mortal kombat characters running around and it is in a grave rather than a koffin basement. You could only buy two characters in this one that are Noob-smoke (As one character) and Jade. The only reason for this is you could unlock most characters in konquest.

Then there were two additional games. There was puzzle kombat which is like tetris but with a mortal kombat touch. Then chess kombat but this was very inaccurate and hardly had any of the elements of a proper chess game.

As for the kombat it is practically the same as Deadly alliace but the environments are a little more interactive.

Then the fatalities. I was very impressed with these as it introduced a new thing called hara-kiris were you killed yourself so you don't give the opponent the pleasure of killing you instead you can keep your dignity by suicide. A downside is that the fatalities are very fussy in the position you have to be in...either close medium or far.

As for the new characters. I have to say they were terrible and had no natural charisma whatsoever except maybe Havik.

MKSM: I'm not really going to comment on this as it wasn't a mortal kombat style game.

MKA: This was the last game before the next gen consoles.

the fighting in this one was the same as the other ones but it had air kombat. One bad thing about this was that it was to easy to pull off and could very easily win you the match.

The konquest was like a platform game but with a much bigger depth to it finding out about Taven. and him trying to get the throne of edenia but armageddon is upon them.

The vault again is practically the same as the krypt.

There was every character on this enough said.

You could kreate your own character. but you was very limited to what you could wear.

And the motor kombat was just terrible.

Overall I'd say the best was Deception.

LOL, Moral Kombat...sorry, that just cracked me up.

I can't decide exactly, so I'll say MK2 through UMK3.
