This topic is mostly in reference to characters who weren't in MKDA, or have different styles than they did in MKDA. It's NOT in reference to how effective a style is, it's just about how well certain styles fit their characters, in regards to stance and moves. Weapons can be included, too.
Bo Rai Cho's Sumo- In a way I think this fits, but in a way it doesn't. He has the right build for the style, but Bo seems like more of a kung fu guy, wheras Sumo is Japanese.
Havik's Snake and Tang Soo Do- Don't really fit, IMO. They seem too precise and disciplined. He should have more chaotic styles. His Morning Star fits, though.
Ermac's Hua Chuan and Choy Lee Fut- Excellent fit.
Kenshi's Judo- I guess it kinda fits, but I think Aikido would be better.
Liu Kang's Pao Chui and Nunchaku- Pao Chui is a cool style, but seems a little slow for a character like Liu Kang. And despite the fact that Liu is a Bruce Lee ripoff, the Nunchaku doesn't seem to fit a Shaolin monk.
Noob's Monkey- Eh...no, doesn't fit. Sorry.
Scorpion's Moi Fah- Fits pretty well. The hand that's held above his head kinda reminds me of his stance from the classic games.

agree about Noob and monkey style, its just silly, he should have gotten ninjutsu from DA. I dont think Silat fits baraka at all. From what ive seen of and trained in Silat, it just doesnt match Baraka's brutal personality. I think Muay Thai would have been a better fit for him. Also the 50million shao lin and karate styles are a bit much imo.
At least there's no crab style this time ;>

I would have to agree with the Noob/monkey thing.. that just doesn't fit him. And although Bo Rai' is the guy who drinks and everything, I think the drunken fist would have been better with someone else.. .or if they made Bo look different... I liked how it was used in DOA3.. But definatly they should have given Noob ninjitsu.

I have a hard time seeing Baraka in a nice diciplend stance. He is kind of a moster..a Savage. Things his fighting fails to show.
There are some that just are so goofy looking they ruin the character for me. Ashrah looks like she is taking a dump. When they created Kenshi I thought he was a great idea. The blind guy with TK powers. The Tai Chi stance looked cool(ironicly also could fit the taking a dup). After I started playing with him I started to dislike him. I hated the way he fought. All his moves seamed goofy or didn't fit him at all. Judo be damned I cant get into Kenshi at all.
I do think changing scorpion's second style was a good change. It fits him much better.
Then there are some styles that just dont work well in the game at all. Mostly the heavy throw styles. Take Wrestling from MKDA. Throwing in the game just isn't anywhere near as well done as it is in most other fighters. In DOA3 its just unreal how natural all the Throws and counter throws are. In MK...It sort of like watching an old movie where someone picks up and tosses what you can tell full well is a doll and not a real person. Nothing moves or lines up right between the 2 characters.

im kind of disappointed about Li Mei. Midway replace her Baji Quan style into Mi Zong style. Why Midway? Why? Baji Quan suits her and its one of the most powerful fighting style in MKDA (it actually beat Moloch with ease, IMO) anyway, Mi Zong doesnt really suits her (give the damn style back to Bo Rai Cho!), her fighting stance makes her look a little slutty (come on, she stick her butt out)
well here's my opinion
Ashrah- Chou Jaio was pretty cool but Ba Gua should've been with someone else
Baraka- I agree Silat wasnt a good style to give him maybe Netherealm shouldve been better, Hung Gar was alright for him
Bo' Rai Cho- Sumo was okay but i think he should've stayed with Mi Zong
Dairou- both styles fitted him Wing Chun and Escrima
Darrius- They should have given him Judo instead of Leopard
Ermac-PERFECT
Havik- Both styles were too complicated and weird
Hotaru- Ba Shan Fan was good for him but Pi Gua wasnt maybe they should have given him Aikido
Jade- I personally didnt like Kuo Shou
Kabal- My only problem was the Hookswords
Kenshi- Tai Chi still fits him but Judo didnt they should have kept San Shou for him
Kira- Great stances here
Kobra- Fitted him well
Li Mei- AHHHHHHHHHH why did thry take Baji Quan out that was my favorite style and they gave her Mi Zong ERRRRGHH
Liu Kang- I'm thinkin that Karate would have been his main style but no. Pao Chui was different and slow for him. Nunchaku was totally out of place
Mileena- Great Stances
Nightwolf- well for 1st they spelled it wrong it's Vale Tudo man they need spellers on that team
Noob Smoke- Monkey was definetly not good for Noob. Mi Tzu fitted Smoke well. Ninjitsu is more like it for Noob
Raiden- Well nothing changed which is cool because i liked both
Scorpion- AWESOME STANCES
Sindel- Fu Jow Pai wasnt my fav in DA but now it is
Sub-Zero- No changes here either and i still hate it because its too slow not flows well
Tanya- I still think Capoeira is a way better stance then Yue Chuan
Shujinko- I like where his stances are coming
Ashrah- Chou Jaio was pretty cool but Ba Gua should've been with someone else
Baraka- I agree Silat wasnt a good style to give him maybe Netherealm shouldve been better, Hung Gar was alright for him
