Just thought I could post what we know about the new mortal kombat game, and what I might have missed:
- The release date in fall of 2004 (and more likely in october)
- Online gameplay is comfirmed.
- (stage fatalities will return) Midway has confirmed the return of stage fatalities according to game informer magazine
- The Dragon King will be the new boss
- And finally, mk 6 will take advantage of each consoles strengths instead of making an effort into making each version look identical.
No spoilers here, just general information. Any thoughts, additions, or corrections?

Is it set in concrete that the dragon king will be the new boss?

I think so. On a side note I just want to say that I am super excited about MK6. On a scale of 1-10 I would be off the scale. I hope the MK team gives us something soon

I don't think that was confirmed by Midway; we just know they got a copyright for the name "Mortal Kombat: Deception." I think this title is likely to be just what it says: a "deception." It could be just so they can distract us while they copyright the REAL name.

I'd like to know where these things were confirmed.

In my opinion, the surprise character that will be in mk6 is Baraka. I know I wont be surprised and I will be glad he is back, but many people will be.
There is no official confirmation yet, but baraka is strongly rumored to a a concept art where he is wearing a mask, it is said that you can only see his eyeballs and mouth (not to be confused with a ninja for sure) and it is said to be awesome!

To be honest, me too. I'm thinking because the Gamecube doesn't have any online functionality, they may try to give us something else to substitute for it.. *shrug*

Nintendo Gamecube is able to go online. PSO is the only game right now that is able to go online with the GC. Warp pipe is a another example of Nintendo being able go online with a 3rd party program with games enabled with LAN. Nintendo just doesnt see online gaming profitable so Nintendo itself won't support 100% going online but Gamecube has a modem port to allow any game programed to go online. With upcoming games like splinter cell 2 that will support online for Xbox, PS2 and Gamecube. Its up to the 3rd party(in this case Midway) to make MK6 online for Gamecube. I hope Midway desides not to leave out Gamecube's version out of the online area when it comes to MK6. They haven't accounced that they won't so I hope to hear from the MK team about this. When it comes to Gamecube's able to go online it is able to its all up to the the people that make the game. I dont mean to get off topic, just want to clear up some stuff laterzzz

All of the stuff in the first post is confirmed?
This is pretty cool so far.
Is anyone sure that MK6 might not slip until 2005?
