Does anybody know what's a good PC game controller to play emulated games on? I am talking about emulated NES, SNES (on ZSNES), and arcade games?

I've been feeling the urge to go back and play some old skool NES, SNES, and arcade games but I hate playing with a keyboard.

I happen to agree with you RW's again on the keyboard, some players say it's "the best" for fighters but to me that' utter BS...keyboards are simply NOT meant for fighters, don't care what anyone says.

Controllers and sticks are the best options, but anyway my friend got his awesome controllers at Best Buy man, logitech has some hot ones for fighting games especially. SF, MK, Tekken etc on MAME they work great.

No kidding, I hate the stick as much as using the keyboard.

Keyboards ARE good for fighting games if you practice a lot with them, it can be very precise.

Joysticks are good for the older MK's, the newer ones personally I can't see how someone can use them.

I know malone uses one I believe, he does pretty well with it so I gotta give him props there.

As for keyboards, Iori if someone can use them that's great but I personally tried....horror lol

I can't buffer moves, won't come out every time and the movement IMO is just bad with a keyboard but I know a few guys use them on umk.com, not many though.

you can find usb adaptors on ebay that allow you to use the an actual playstation or n64 controller. I personally feel this is the best bet for all those type of games. plus if you've already got loads of playstation controllers or old arcade ones for it then you're all set. I think you can get them for less than 10 bucks but I haven't checked in a while. but I'm positive you can find them. this is what i'd do. happy halloween!

Thanks for that information dude, ^^ I wasn't aware of that about the N64 an and PSX controller converters for your PC I mean. As crazy as this might sound, the N64 controller was perfect for MK. For me anyway, I'm sure for others it's PSX but the thing I loved about the N64 is that you could arrange the LK, HK next to each other or keep the default was hot too, make block and run in the middle or shoulder buttons.

My favorite all time controller though is SNES=best controller ever IMO. I know for ZSNES you can buy a SNES controller with USB adaptor for it as far as ZSNES is concerned.

Raiden, I've just had a look at those controllers. The 'D' pad looks to be the same as the original 360 version. Is there anyone here who's actually used anything other than the original 360 controllers?

I've adapted to the 'D' pad. I had no choice!

From your choices I would easily go with the first one. The only thing I worry about is that back button right next to one of the main buttons. I had to return a madcatz controller because I kept pressing it on accident.

My friend has a logitech controller for his PC, the D-pad on the one he has is very good. Problem is I don't know what model it is lol. He has his for MAME games, I'll ask him though.

It's definitely better then the 360 controller, the one he has I mean.

I also agree and feel that controllers are the best for fighters in general, I hate keyboards with a passion as I stated earlier and although I can use a stick, I'd prefer not to.

Well guys, I got the second controller, i.e. the Logitech Rumble 2, and I am happy to report it works great. It feels like a PS2 controller and works great NEStopia and MAME.

Don't know, haven't tried it. But the Logitech 2 is awesome. Playing games with it, compared to the keyboard, is an entirely different experience. It feels almost as good as playing console games. What i did is I turned my lazy boy chair to face my computer monitor so I can play comfortably. As a result I am really getting into emulated games right now. I'll be doing some serious old skool NES, SNES, and arcade gaming.

^^ Yeah, I did the same shit when I got into emulators. I bought a Gravis Gamepad Pro a couple of years ago. It's basically a standard Playstation controller with a different D-Pad. I remember I used to play on my PC more than my Xbox for a while cuz I was going back to all the games I missed growing up on EVERY console (SNES and prior) and some manageable games for MAME. I made it through a ton of them and it almost seems like I've run out.

I've realized that computers can handle N64 and PSX roms now so I've thought about looking into that. If that ends up working out, that's a TON more time to waste.
