What's the excuse for Gamecube not having Online?
I know the Gamecube has very few online games (okay, two), but it DOES support online play, and, if that was the major emphasis with MK:D, why doesn't Midway use the online components that are available? Phantasy Star Online, though the only Gamecube online title, still has over 600,000 people subscribed, and MK:D certainly would have a healthy online community on Nintendo's little purple purse. It just amazes me that the entire game was built with online in mind, and then strips it of its most meaty new content, in favor of two "extras". I'm a Nintendo fan-boy, so I'll probably get the Gamecube version, but these extras had better be damn good if they're to make up for online play. Fatality.

Because Nintendo feels that online play is just a fad and will be gone within the next year or two. Just more proof of the idiots running Nintendo. And also, since Midway is already running their own servers for PS2 online play, I doubt they would want to take even more money out of their pocket for servers for Gamecube players.
It's a pretty smart business decision, the amount of GC players won't be anywhere near that of PS2 or Xbox anyway, so why host and pay for a server that might not get used by more than a couple hundred people?

The Gamecube does not posses and online structure, especially a growing one because Nintendo wants it that way. They don't believe in or care about online play so they sorta botched any plans for future games having online components by releasing small quatities and stop supply of the online adapter.
Literally no store, not even the big retail chains like EB, Gamestop or Toys R Us carry it anymore.
Meanwhile, online play on the PS2 and Xbox grows everyday, and will continue to grow big time when Gran Turismo 4 and Halo 2 are released on their respective consoles.
So in other words, why should Midway waste time and resources adding a feature to the game that they know Nintendo does, and will not support, and that the majority of future and recent GC owners will not be able to access due to the lack of online adapters.

Still, they could have at least done a Final Fantasy XI move and included an adapter for that specific game. The FFXI online adapter is available anywhere else except WITH the game. Midway could have done something similar. I guess it doesn't matter much, since, while I love Nintendo, their good intentions are misguided and they're idiots for not listening to the public. Hmm. Sounds like Bush. *cough* I just hope the two extras aren't, like, a 3rd alternate costume for Scorpion and an extra stage. Fatality.

At whose expense, Midway? Why should they, considering Deadly Alliance's sales were lower than the other 2 consoles.
They're not the wealthiest or most profit making gaming company either.

Since i definetly won't use the online adapter for playstaion 2, i kinda wish my ps2 had that 2 extra features.

GCN isn't really built for online play. Phantasy Star Online is sort of an exception.
