What's the point of the 'fatality' stance when it says finish him/her?

Well??? You can do fatalities in any stance, so it doesnt make any difference...although I do have the PAL version, so this could be a PAL thing.

It's not just a PAL thing. Pal gamers gotta stop thinking they have everything and the North Americans have nothing. The fatality stance is so you don't move when performing fatalities that are Up Up Down Right Up Up 1

The fatal stance is just good way for "NEWBIES" to do finishers more easily.

since characters in mkda don't jump by pressing just up, there's no difficulty in performing fatalities like up up down down. What's more, it has happened to me the character has launched a punch or a kick when pressing a button while on fatality stance, so i don't see how useful the f. stance is.
