I think he's back to Earthrealm with the aid of Nitara, as the endings show in MKDA.
After Nitara gets the orb, she backs to her realm, that is no more linked to Outworld and Cyrax back to Earth.
The only fighters that was captured by Onaga are show in Ermac's ending (Cage, Sonya, Jax, Kung Lao and Kitana).
