Which MK game introduced the best new characters and can MK6 outdo them?

Each MK game introduced a bunch of characters but only a small percentage of those actually are "cool" and make it into future games. I think that MK3 so far introduced the best new characters, Sindel, Sheeva, Kabal, the Cyborgs, Motaro, just beautiful!!!
From what I've seen, MK6 has and will take the best classic MK characters and re-introduce them in MK6 but so far we are yet to see all the new characters so I'm not sure what to think of the new cast of MK6.
What do you think?

I would definately have to say MK 2 for giving us Mileena and Kitana two of the very best characters (next to Sonya of course) in Mk history. Second would be DA because of Kenshi who rocks imo.

Mk2 intrdced the best new charac....
I don't think MKD can be better than MK2...
but I think it will be the one to come the closest... (and MK4 is definetly the WORST new characters...)

I think Mk3 and MKDA had the best, but Mk2 also had cool ones!

I could not agree more with both things you said. MK4 (new Character wise) left a lot to be desired. And I don't think that there can be a better sequel to any game than MK2 was to MK1.

Mortal Kombat 2. Mileena and Baraka are pure awesome,(barakas my favourite mk character) and there still with us. We were also introduced to kung lao, someone i like alot, way better than liu kang. We're introcuded to kitana, a GREAT character with potential, (and this is where mileena comes into play).
Not to mention the first time to play as reptile and shang tsung. Then theres Kintaro, the baddest sub boss EVAR! Not to mention shao kahn, the baddest BOSS ever.
Who could forget Noob, Jade, and Smoke? 3 popular characters that we were introduced to in the early days. I'll never forget MK2, to me, it was the best game to introduce characters.

This is tough. It's a toss-up between Mortal Kombat 2 and 3. Honestly, there's not a single character in either game that I don't like - well, let me change that to a single character in either game that I didn't like at that time. Kitana and Jax, which rocked hard in MK 2 and 3 (well, UMK 3 for Kitana) really went to hell in the last few games (MK Gold and DA).
MK 2 gave us Baraka, Mileena (my all-time favorite female character), Kung Lao, a playable Reptile (who owned his MK 1 counter-part), and Jax, who was very cool in the game.
MK 3 gave us the godly cyber ninjas Sektor, Cyrax, and Smoke, as well as Sindel (my second all-time favorite female character), Kabal (who was just the man), Stryker (say what you will, but I liked the guy), Nightwolf (one of the most bad-asses ever to grace the series in my opinion), and Sheeva (she somewhat sucked, but not all that much).
I'm going to go with MK 3 though. The three cyborg ninjas are cooler than any of the other new characters introduced in MK 2, MK 3, MK 4, and DA. Plus Kabal, Nightwolf, Sindel, and Stryker were always favorites of mine as well.
Although not on topic, I think Mortal Kombat 4 and Deadly Alliance easily have the worst cast of new characters out of the entire series. Kai, Jarek, Reiko, Tanya, Hsu Hao, Drahmin, Bo Rai Cho, Li Mei, and Shinnok just sucked. In fact, the only cool new MK 4 characters were Fujin and Quan Chi, and they weren't even all that cool really. As for DA, Mavado and Kitara were both somewhat cool, but somewhat crappy at the same time. Frost and Kenshi were the cool new cool characters in my opinion.
[edit] Forgot the second part of the question: I'm not sure if Deception can top Mortal Kombat 2 and 3's level of super bad-ass new characters. Like I said, Mortal Kombat 4 was pretty bad and Deadly Alliance wasn't really much better. Mavado and Kitara were so-so, Frost and Kenshi rocked, and everyone else blew. The MK team is going to have to try really hard to create new characters on par with the MK 2 and 3 cast of new characters in my opinion.

It's a tough choice between MK2 and MK3. I'd probably say MK2: Baraka (my all-time favorite), Kitana, Mileena, Reptile (now playable in MK2), and Kung Lao. Jax was an okay character, but man, I still loved his arm-rip fatality. But I think MK2 came out with some of the most fundamental characters in the story of Mortal Kombat. MK3 had some good ones as well. However, I just didn't get as excited about the chatacters in MK3 as I did when I played MK2 for the first time.

I think all of the Mk game introduced awesome new chars except for Mk4 (Tanya,Fujin,Jerek,Reiko,Kai,Shinnok, and Quan Chi) the only decent chars out of all those were Fujin and Quan Chi, and even still those 2 arent very cool. I do kinda hope those that Fujin comes back, all diffrent with better moves with his wind, and maybe a better appearance.

MK2 for sure. Kitana, Mileena, Reptile playable, Shang Tsung playable, Kung Lao, Baraka, even Johnny Cage was good in the 2nd one. The only character I never ever liked in that whole game was Jax. Still don't like him and I never will.

How dare you speak of Fujin's debut title in such a manner!

Wasn't MKM Fujin's debut title? I thought it came out before MK 4. I'm not so sure on that though.
Mortal Kombat II was the game that introduced the best new cast of characters than any other Mortal Kombat sequel.
Baraka was a strange but yet great character. I have always pictured him as a crazy maniac who carves his opponents down in a bloody mess and enjoys watching them suffer.
Kitana was indeed a very great character and important to the story. She was on the evil side but hated that fact. I also liked her relationship with Shao Kahn as his "fake" daughter.
Mileena was a genious character, I liked how she was cloned from Kitana and was put in Kitana's shadow. I have always seen her as the jealous type and liked how she fought with Kitana for love of her father.
Jax was a great addition in Mortal Kombat II, he was introduced as an intelligent and noble military man in search of one of the original characters which is Sonya Blade. I have always pictured him with a booming voice and having brute strength to hold his own against his opponents. Jax was also considered to be the strongest man on Earth, that stuck with me through Mortal Kombat II.
Kung Lao had remained one of my favorite characters since Mortal Kombat II. His hat struck as one of the most genious weapon's i've ever seen in a fighting game. Kung Lao had purpose to come into Mortal Kombat because he had to represent his people after they were slaughtered by Baraka's people and stuck with Liu Kang who is his shaolin brother. I also thought how he was the anscestor of the original Kung Lao who was mentioned in the first game. That like paved a way for this character.

When it comes to lasting power, MK2 delivered. It brought us Kitana, Mileena, Kung Lao, Baraka, Jax - all of whom had appeared in more than one MK game. As to whether MKD can top that, can't say. So far we only know of Ashrah and Hotaru, and we know nothing of their capabilities.
MK4 wasn't all that bad. I agree that only Quan Chi and Fujin could be defined as "awesome", but a lot of characters were wasted potential. Reiko being one of them and DEFINITELY Shinnok. I'm 100% certain that if Shinnok was an unplayable boss with his own moveset and a much much better look he would've been kickass. He rocked in MKM.
